It's almost like he just turned up. Not much practice on the surface. Maybe he's been playing on indoor clay in the last few days!

No, he was not doing that. He said he will do that in the week gap between Bercy and O2.

Come on, he just finished in Basel on Sunday. The travel and getting settled takes at least
a day. He had just one day to practice and the surface behaves differently too.

It is important to win the opening match, ugly or not. He will pick it up as he
progresses further.
