Uhm Chardy not unexpected? why not?

He beat Roger once already this year, and took a set off him in another match. I know this kind of surface favors Roger in most cases, but I'm not sure why people were acting like Chardy was a walkover.

Tignor's curse is working.

But, I think Rog will right the ship. First match is always tricky independent of opponent.

I don't think anyone is acting like this is a walkover. But Federer in all probability should win this one. He's no 2 for a reason. What is so special about Chardy's game that would bother Federer? Chardy has a win over him on clay not indoors hard.

Chardy plays Roger well. Add to that the amount of tennis Roger has been playing, the surface change (this is nowhere near Basel surface...very slow), and this being the first round, I expected Roger to struggle and mentioned it before.

He might still win though...

Back on serve. He could still get out of this in straights

I have to say... old man Fed just seems much more solid these days when he's down. Impressive... Novak like

Is it just me or does Chardy's forehand seem bigger and more dangerous than Rogers?

The one time I want the French crowd to be chauvenistic, they are not. :cover
