He already has one. You should be happy.

Except he didn't win a single slam :snigger. Frankly, I'm surprised he is even in contention considering his slam results, only one final and two semis....
Except that knife slices both ways. Had Novak done better his #1 ranking wouldn't be in jeopardy.

Yup. But Novak won Wimbledon.
You don't have to justify it to me. I understand how the point system works. I'm not one of the people who needs to see a slam win this season for another player to become #1. It's not like he's never won a slam.

Novak laid an egg in AO, RG and USO. All slams he could have and should have won given the circumstances of each tournament. It's allowed Fed to get closer.

Fine with me.

Still takes off the shine of the no 1 position if the guy is slamless for the season is all I am saying.

Actually, I agree with that. He should have, but messed up, got a heatstroke etc. Hopefully he can take out the bull next year. It's about time. Nadal has messed with my favorite tournament for waaaayyy too long.

Yep. If ever there was a year to win it, this was that year. Everyone, except for a handful of the Nadal faithful was declaring RG would be Novak's.

Nadal's worse year on clay, buddy, and Nole only took a set. That's how it should be.

There's never gonna be a "Nole should win RG" until Rafa goes 2009 again, which I hope isn't for a long time...

Surprised to see him struggle with Chardy again, Roger knows what's at stake. He has put himself in position to have a great year...

He already has one. You should be happy.

Nah, he hasn't... It's about legacy for him and what enhances it. 2 MS events and the #2 rank is great for the average 33 year old but doesn't do much (ie anything) for his resume. Slams, #1 rank and YEC do. He still has a chance to do something big this year but so far he hasn't

Dont forget Davis Cup. That is something big he actually hasn't won.

Davis Cup means nothing to a player's resume as far as discussing a singles career. It is huge for the players personally since it is a country competition, but no team event matters towards the greatness of a singles career. Similar to winning Olympic Gold with Stan. He was thrilled and probably values it over a lot of big singles wins but that doesn't add to his career as a singles player.

Everybody was wrong. It was obvious after the QF that anybody taking a set off Rafa in the semi or final was exceeding their limits...

Nole's slam results on a whole were still quite a bit better than Roger's (points wise and obviously he won 1) and he also has 3 MS wins. Nole's problem is he had a lot of early losses in some of the MS events and Roger has made the final of 5 of them winning 2. But there is still no question that Novak has been the best player in 2014 overall as in everyone else would trade their seasons with him.

He only took a set because he messed up like I said. Don't forget that the year before your boy was almost in the ropes in apparently not his worst year on clay.

Hope Nadal goes down in the final next year. But it's already too late. The damage is done. A decade of barreness and suffering has been brought upon us. Let's hope it ends next year and good times at RG resume again.

:laydownlaughing It took him to reach the QF before you felt better about things? I don't have to say anything else then.

An unparalleled decade of excellence at a slam, brother. ;)

The only "should win" when it comes to Paris is Rafa: anything else is extraordinary...

Alright, back to Paris masters. Fog in trouble

Which is default setting for him, by the way. What kinda trouble? He attack a spectator? Set fire to the net after a bad netcord? :snigger

All things come to an end, even the most awful of things. Hopefully once he loses his precious dirt that will be near the end of him period. Can't wait till he is ushered out of this sport.

Ah Darth! The man is a legend, the sport will be much less interesting without him, not to mention his excellence on court. I wouldn't even wish Federer out of the game. We'll miss all these great players when they're gone...

Fog has cleared. Lucas Pouilee is the next opp for Roger. I have never heard of this guy.
But, he is French and so will have crowd support.
