Novak breaks Kohly and then consolidates the break in second set for a 3-1 lead. This match is
over for all practical purposes.

Novak gets the winner of tomorrow's night match between Gael Monfils and John Isner in the third round.

So in the sprint to #1, Nole strikes first blood. Is it possible to have a points update after every match, to show where they are, for a bit of fun? Going into Paris, Nole was 490 ahead, but he has 150 coming off - so the real lead is 340.

Now that Nole is into round 2, his lead has leapt to 385 points, has it?

All six contenders for WTF in action tomorrow. A loss tomorrow might make some of them
pretenders.

The current lead is 430. Novak has reached R16 and so he already has 90 points in the bag.

That's it, thanks! So a win for Roger tomorrow brings us back to 340. I bet the players are going to be counting on their fingers every evening too...

I am sure they both have an app in their smart phone that tells the current lead at any time.

Congrats Novak you first match win as a Daddy!!!!!!!

Looking at the draw, Nole's getting the worst of it again; Isner/Monfils winner, and potentially Dimitrov or Murray in his top half! OTOH Federer has personal pigeons like Wawrinka and Berdych! There's just no justice in this world! :nono As the #3 player he was hosed, then as #2 behind Nadal who got guali's, also-rans, and wildcards! Now as the #1 player, Nole catches Murray again who' s barely in the top 10! Not sure Andy will survive long after surviving that war against Robredo a couple days ago in Valencia! :dodgy:

Oh well that is the draw, seeing Novak is my 2nd fav player, now that Rafa is gone for the season.I will be able to put all my focus towards Novak on retaining the No 1 position in the world. His ROS in his match against Phil K at times was just a pleasure to watch, his wrist action is so loose,no wonder he is the best returner in the world.

Stan is the epitome of inconsistency and may well be considered a past pigeon of Roger's but he beat him at Monte Carlo (though that was a shocking 3rd set by Roger) and played him tough at Wimbledon this year so you never know. Berdych's form has been pretty bad most of the year but I'd nearly call Roger his pigeon at this stage as he always brings his best against Roger last few years. He has almost the same uncanny read of Roger's serve (2nd in particular) that Rog himself had with Roddick's and Roger needs to really be on his game to win and serve big. As impressively as Roger's been playing lately I'd be even more impressed if he beats Berdych. Going by respective form of Stan and Tomas, Roger should win pretty comfortably but anything can happen for the above reasons.

Well it's the tournament with the most surprise winners of the last decade I believe. If Ferrer can win it, Dimitrov sure can!

Good win for Nole, I wasn't able to watch it though. It must be so hard for him to play in Paris as he would like nothing more than be with his new baby who is home now. Nole is as excited about him as any kid would be with a cool new toy. :lolz:

I can only hope that Nole can do better than Federer here to protect his #1 ranking.

Chardy up a break on Roger. 3-1 in the first...

Consolidated break: 4-1...
