RE: World No. 15 Cilic Quietly Serving Doping Ban

Yes but he was supposedly told to cite a fake injury to force him out of Wimbledon and already banned by then. Nobody was made aware of it back then but he was apparently banned right there. So it was a silent ban not made public till now.

In any event, Novak can't be happy; sweating a bit for sure.

Novak wasn't out for months. Maybe you mean someone else.

Do you mean the guy who didn't play for a couple of months this spring, and missed two Masters series?

Nah, that guy clearly looked stiff as hell and couldn't run down balls in Indian Wells and was serving like a WTA player. Another guy.

The Swiss would've blown that story wide open. They are p.ssed as all heck with their darling Rojay getting his derriere kicked left right and center court.

RE: World No. 15 Cilic Quietly Serving Doping Ban

I must say Im surprised Cilic got a silent ban. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind we wouldn't hear about a top player testing positive if it ever happened. But Cilic is not an elite player and hardly a household name. Anyways as Front said, the silent ban in sports is not some old wives tale after all.

Cilic is a top player.

He's very good but inconsistent and therefore not elite. Basically elite is top 5 imo. Forget that the numbers show Federer as number 5 currently. He's playing nowhere near elite but hopefully that will change. Back will improve, etc. Anyway, Cilic is not elite by any stretch of the imagination but it's a step in the right direction that they're clamping down on top players at least and not just nobodies.

No definitely not and also not a good sign that the clowns deem a failed test worthy of a mere 3 months and failure to comply for a test worthy of 18 months. I mean the whole thing is still beyond a joke but at least we're seeing some changes lately. Can't see why it's not 18 months for both of them and Troicki should be seeking legal advice and suing the clowns if he gets 15 more months than Cilic who actually failed a test. In truth, failure to give blood means he was more than likely guilty so it's the same thing but he got 15 months more which, frankly, is downright clueless on the part of the ITF and completely unjust.

Darcis' withdrawal at Wimbledon was the most suspicious for sure.

Nonsense. He fell badly on his shoulder and injuries like that swell up the following day more than right away. Absolutely nothing dodgy about that imo. Next we'll be hearing he only won 'cos he was juiced. Pffff. Watch the replay. He fell hard on his shoulder. It was just very unfortunate but these things happen in sport.

Biogenesis Scandal - Tennis Players on the books

Seems the doping saga of events will continue with the Biogenesis scandal where tennis players are said to be among the clientele.

RE: Biogenesis Scandal - Tennis Players on the books

they have to be very low level players. nobody gives a damn about them.

they are not the ones who are driving the sport.

I would never suspect the top guns in a million years. they have too much to lose.

and besides they are too damn good anyway.

that being said, the public will still be curious now. who are these low level players?

I still maintain that our sport is quite clean.

huge problem still exists in the following sports:

1. baseball
2. basketball
3. NFL (American football)
4. cycling
5. track and field

perhaps swimming too but I am just guessing.

Cilic is a top player.

Top player means top 5 and specifically Djokovic, Rafa, Murray and Fed. Any of those 4 tested positive we would never hear about it from the ATP because that'd damn near kill tennis. And what apparently has happened with Cilic just confirms this. Cilic is a good player but not a household name

He is more "elite" than Troicki, it seems, about 6 times more?:puzzled

RE: World No. 15 Cilic Quietly Serving Doping Ban

I guess, we are jumping the gun both with respect to the ban being
silent and the three month length of the ban. Perhaps, the board is
just trying to decide what should be the length of the ban.

As these bans are usually applied from the date of the test,
if a player expects that he is going to be banned it is prudent for
him not to play (as any way he will lose all the points and prize
money gained during the period) until the punishment is announced.
Umag is home tourney for Cilic. He not playing it definitely indicates
that he is expecting a ban of at least three months. Also, this
(not playing in Umag) might have led to the press finding the
story and hence the timing of the release of the story.

RE: Viktor Troicki banned for 18 months

I am very disappointed. this is so wrong.

they have effectively ended his career with this madness.

18 months is too damn long for a tennis player.

maybe he just took some recreational drug and did not want anybody to know.
