Long match but a high quality of game. I'm glad for Rafa, his fans, me and most all for GSAM :snicker

So, Anderson officially eliminated from the ALT race for London now.

Also, Gasquet has clinched ALT1 or ALT2 (we don't know which one yet).

If Isner loses his next match against Ferrer, he will be out of running also.
In that case, Gasquet will be ALT1 and Tsonga will be ALT2.

If Isner wins his next match, Gasquet and Isner will be the two ALTs
although we will not immediately know who is ALT1 and who is ALT2.

So, 6 of 8 who are supposed to reach QF reached, Fed and Samurai being the exceptions.
This is probably OK state of affairs.

But, 14 of 16 reaching R16 is too much.

Not a bad QF, but Fed missing takes a lot of the drama out.

I'll go with Djoko, Wawrinka, Ferrer and Murray.

Hoping for Berdych, Wawrinka, Isner, Murray.

Djokovic, Nadal, J.Isner, and McToothy.

Hoping Gasquet knocks off the kilted one.

Now that Fed's out, it remains to be seen how hard "Kilts" will work for it tomorrow against Gasquet! :p :nono :dodgy:

No, No. Andy will seriously try to win all his matches in Bercy. No funny business here.
Also, I think Andy has an easy path to finals at Bercy.

Funny business will be done only at WTF.

There's always something funny going on with Murray. intentional or otherwise.

Assuming Andy reaches finals at Bercy (a very real possibility) and loses to Novak, he will be leading Fed by 1130 in the race. This would mean that Andy has to just win two matches in his group to guarantee that he finishes #2 at year end, even if Fed wins the entire WTF.

Actually, I am not even counting DC final points here. If Andy wins two live singles matches and UK wins DC, then Andy will get 225 points ( 75 points for each match and 75 points team bonus).

If you count that also, basically Andy would need to win just one WTF RR match to protect his YE #2. That should be extremely easy considering Andy will be the leader of one group at WTF. So, for all practical purposes YE #2 is sealed.

Seeing how the rankings are shaping up, there could be a possibility of Group A having Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and poor Ferrer in one group. Wouldn't that be a hoot.

Of the top 8, those who are missing are the oldest, Roger ad the youngest, Kei.
The average age of the remaining 8 is 29.63.
29 must be the new 25 age in tennis.

I think your first line-up sounds right. I think Rafa has played enough the last week, I don't expect he has much left in the tank, after five matches went the distance. He's given himself a strong foundation at this point to build on for next year, but I'll be surprised if he defeats Stan today..

Sincerely I wouldn't mind if Rafa lose today. He is playing better and better and I after to play three tournaments in a row against tough opponents he has had enough time and results to see that he is almost ready to play against "the heavy artillery". He would time to rest a little bit more and to be ready for London which is one of the few tournaments (same like Miami) he doesn't have under his belt.

I'll ask Stan to beat Nadal so he can save his energy for Masters and maybe train with Mr Vavrinec ??? I guess the Swiss left for London yesterday evening (?)

He doesn't have Paris Bercy under his belt either, but I see your point...
