Djoker comes alive in autumn. 6-2, 6-4, but it could have been worse. Not a good day for Grigor. I was going to call him "the youngster" but I think I seen some grey hairs. He's not so young anymore..

You were asking "is Goffin only 23?". Now you say Grigor is not "youngster anymore" ...at 23.
So what is it? 23 is old enough for one, but is still young for the other?

Both of them have room to grow, and 23 today in tennis is not mature yet.
Look what a breakout year Nishikori has at 124, Cilic just also takes it to another level at now 25-26

Goffin is younger than I thought, that's why I surprised that he was only 23.

Grigor is getting on. Yeah, players are peaking later and that could be a physical issue, but he should have the mental side in place by now... :nono

Wow, Nishikori looks good for 124 years of age :D You'd think he'd look more like this.

i didn't see the match but I'm not surprised rafa/wafa lost after no tennis since july 1st, and its his first hardcourt match since march.

sir grigor will be awesome..but its a S L O W process, I did see the 2nd set, djoko was v impressive with his rock solid baseline play, sir grigor lurched from sublime defence and a crazy topspin backhand winner on the run to feeble errors ending with a doublefault. (yikes).

Didn't see it, but Klizan impressed me at Wimbledon, and obviously he's taken heart from his previous record of taking a set against Rafa in each match. Well done to him! :clap :clap

I like Klizan. Never in a million years did I think he'd take Ralf down. Good for him.

I saw the first two sets and then embarked for work...which was a good thing.
Rafa was up a set and a break and then there was some wild errors and some lost confidence Klizan quickly took the 2nd set. I actually thought Rafa was playing well till he got broken in the 2nd
Don't know whether anyone saw the third set.......

Likewise I thought he'd win a set at best and decided to go to the gym thinking it was all over. Good performance by him. He has the game to be pretty good when he keeps the errors low but he's just a bit inconsistent. Saw the photo on tennis.com and presumed Nadal won. They're good that way at showing the wrong person in the photo! Geniuses on that site.

Strange that he won over Nadal. He was here a few weeks ago for the DC tie and he struggled a bit. Wasn't anywhere near as scary as he was today. I guess it's true what they say, some people play to the level of their opponent. He brought his game against Nadal, but against the likes of Querrey he played down.

Nadal's serve has been shaky since the AO. Was up a break in the 2nd and 3rd set but he hasn't been able to easily hold most of this year.

I actually think Nadal's great record against lefties is simply due to him being a better player than every other lefty, rather than the fact that he enjoys playing against them. I actually don't think he likes playing lefties at all, especially those with a good forehand. It messes up his usual cross court patterns and he starts using the inside out forehand as a rally shot, which isn't quite as effective. Klizan was so weird in this match in that he was going through a couple of games where he gets in the zone and can't seem to lose a point, only to kinda get back to earth, but momentarily. A very good win for him but he's too erratic to make serious noise in the future.

I'm watching the replay now! So Rafa was up a set and a break, but found a way to lose to this kid; OMG! :nono
