I just realized that this is the thread for Beijing Open, you can never tell here what tread is for what.:snigger

I managed to watch Nole vs Dimitrov last night and I feel that Nole is not in his best form, but he played decently. One thing is for sure, he likes playing here, I think that gives him more motivation to do well in Beijing. It is going to be tough against Andy, I haven't watched him but it seems he beat the best player this summer rather easily so we'll see. Hopefully Nole somehow finds a way to win!!! Come on!

I watched most of it, but people ask why Nole gets no "love," even though he owns the tourneys over in that part of the world? :nono :puzzled

Fiero, he gets plenty of support in China, probably most support of any other individual country. The whole upper bowl in the stadium had lots of Nole's Chinese fans with Serbian flags in abundance. They don't show them often on TV, but that was the report that I read. Besides, they wait for him at his hotel and bring him gifts every day, I don't think this happens in any other tournaments besides the ones in China. I honestly believe that the fans support here makes a big difference in his motivation to play the best he can. :D

I didn't feel that way, but I heard someone ask the question! Roger's still "THE MAN" though wherever he goes! Nole appears to be the nicest, talks to his opponent win or lose, and enjoys what he's doing!

Depends. He didn't appear to be enjoying himself in Toronto or Cincy. Admittedly child on the way probably has a lot to do with that but he sure didn't look like he was enjoying himself at those events and was just going through the motions and looked totally disinterested.

I don't fall for propaganda, not when it comes to China.;) There are countries where Nole is very popular. I don't know about any other player, but I know that Nole is on their social network, an equivalent of the Twitter. He has lots of followers and every time he goes there he has sessions of questions and answers with his Chinese fans. He also learns more Chinese characters every year, just for them. I follow tons of Nole's Facebook fan pages so I don't have to research for myself sometimes.;)

And before anybody attacks me, I know nobody can compare to Roger and Rafa, that was not my intent at all:snigger

Nole and Murray to duel it out in the semis. It really is a huge Fall for Murray to try to get his ranking up and possibly still qualify for YEC. Getting some decent results is probably even more important for his confidence going into 2015.

Nole is amazing in Fall though. I won't bother rooting against him with the small hope Roger gets to #1. I just don't see it happening so I hope Nole takes the tourney, though I wouldn't mind Triple B (Big Bad Berd) winning.

Trust me Front, Nole enjoyed Toronto too much. Unfortunately, off the tennis court.:snigger
No wonder he lacked energy.

We sometimes forget that these tennis players are humans just like us. Some of them like to enjoy life even in the middle of a Masters 1000 event.;)

I've been watching since '73 and there's been only one player I can think of that never seemed to let the ball bounce on his overheads! It could be a great lob; high, deep, topspin on it and he would smash them all away! Dick Stockton was a top US player, upset Connors once or twice, took out Borg who had to default after 2 sets at the USO in '77 with a shoulder injury, and was a great doubles player IIRC!
