RB,
They both looked low on gas the other day. So we'll see. I would always give Novak the edge over DP if it goes deep into the 3rd set.

Yes, but Novak can look gassed and produce incredible tennis. I am a delpo fan too, but I think he will be more affected than Nole.

Gasquet seemed really out of gas by the end of the match. Good job by Roger to not make it that much harder than it needed to be. Hopefully he picks up some momentum and gets into the semis.

No. If DP beats him Fed is 1-2 and DP will be either 3-0 or 2-1 depending on how he does today.

With the victory, is Fed definitively in the semis?

No, it depends. Novak is virtually guaranteed two victories with having Richie in his future. If Novak beats Delpo, the winner of delpo/fed goes to the semis. If delpo beats novak, and fed beats delpo, you have 3 guys at 2 wins and one loss, so it will come down to sets then games win/loss.

You have a few replies, Shawn, but this one is clearly the best.

Federer has some touch today...

I think he's more comfortable playing someone like Gasquet. Roger can play his game, instead of getting into tussles with Rafa, for example.

I completely agree. A match against Gasquet is when he knows the match actually is on his racquet. I don't think he really feels that way when he plays Rafa or even Novak anymore, in spite of what Roger says.

This might be a dumb question, but do the two players with the best record from each group make the semis, or is it the four best records regardless of group that go forward? I hope that makes sense.

Two from each group, and the winner of Group A meets the runner up in Group B in the semis...

2 players from each group. Best in group A plays second best in group b and vice versa in the semis.

It is not that I don't understand the system, just that I am so busy to think about the permutations at present. Thanks for the input y'all.

This page is updated after each match (at least the ones I've seen), so you'll always know the standings:

I hope Nole wins tonight, but the advantage to a loss is that he might get to play Nadal in the semis. A nice opportunity to work on the h2h, avoid Stan, and make sure Nadal does not add 400 points for reaching the finals.

I'm going with Nole in three though.

Although it is far from decided, it looks like we are headed to Fedal SF. It will be an
interesting match.

I like your style. I was thinking, if they meet in the semi it's a great chance for Rafa to extend the H2H and pull even further away at the top. But...I'm going out on Sunday and I fancy that a semi between Rafa and the winner or runner-up from Group B (Fed, Djoker or DP) will be the evening match, so I'll miss it... :(

my take on it

Toni needs to do a little coaching on how to eat during masters events :)

"food-related injury" indeed

Clever topsport, but when you're naturally right-handed - you do hold the bread with your left hand. Just saying.
