Had to step away again, so I missed the end of the match, but congrats to Novak. Last I saw, JMDP had chances to break. Next thing I know Novak has match points. That he doesn't need to worry about the Gasquet match is even better. What a run he's on.

It will be interesting to see who gets through between JMDP and Federer. They could end up killing each other in a desperate attempt to make the semis. If that's the case, I don't see either of them beating Rafa (no, not even on an indoor hard-court).

This is a good point. They are playing for the semis, and I don't see either closing the door in 2, on current form.

They can't kill each other beyond a point as this is not a five set match and there is
a tie-breaker even in the deciding set. The winner will be able to survive and beat Rafa.

I don't think it takes a 5-setter at this point in the calendar to take what is left of various players. Del Potro is suffering with his fitness and Federer is suffering with his confidence. If they run each other ragged, I'm not sure that Rafa suffering with a cut finger will be enough to put either over the hump. A difference might be if either wins quickly and definitively. I'm not seeing that, but it could happen.

Even though Olympic was a three set format, Fed was forced to play a long thrid set
19-17 to defeat JMDP. In fact, it sort of cost him the Gold Medal.

But, that won't happen in WTF, as there is a tie-break in the third set.

Exactly. In the last few games of the Djokovic/Federer match, Novak looked like he was going to need medical assistance, and Roger was clearly petering out in the third set.

It's late in the year, they just played a Masters last week, and these guys are the best in the world -- they're going to push each other hard in order to get through. Plus, every time they turn around, they're facing another top ranked player. It's not like they had easy first round matches against guys ranked in the 70s.

Brad Gilbert just stated that Dimitrov and Raonic are his picks to be here next year. I think he's been partying with your mayor Murat.

Well, he sounds only HALF baked...I actually think Milos can make it...:snigger your second favorite player...:laydownlaughing

Late to the party and I swear I am not "high", but also think like Murat that Milos will be here.
Sorry nehmeth, there is only one way for him, slowly, true, but Up, Up, Up...

:)

Have not seen the matches the last 2 days, being busy, just checking the outcome.
Although rooting for both Nole and JM, glad Nole won, he is my top guy
:clap

Now, I just need JM to come out blazing in his next match and send Roger to a nice vacation.

The final score will be something like 6-4 or 7-5 for Novak. Catch you guys tomorrow.

I like the authority that comes with it. Almost 2005RG-esque ;)
How could you even fix your mouth to compare me w/ that T***L. My skills far outweigh anything he offered. :snigger
