Thiem is clearly in the wrong line of work. Tennis isn't for him. He would make a FANTASTIC baseball player. All those home runs he hit during the whole match. Jeez.

And fiero, your gloating is insufferable. "Reminded me to eat last bagel for breakfast, coffee's on Dominic.!"
Was that supposed to be funny? Your guy beat a brainless ballbasher in 3 sets, I wouldn't be too happy with the performance. I will be happy to see your posts in the semifinal.

It wasn't gloating; more like frustration even though I want Nole to win and reclaim his #1 ranking! I've been saying for years the "Big 4" or 5 have exposed the latest generation or 2 of players I've been calling "gutless!" They have all this ability, but not a brain in their heads to finish off the elites! From Tsonga, Berdych, Ferrer, Gasquet, and Monfils to the more recent stars of Dimitrov, Isner, Querrey, & so many others with "huge games," there's this mental block that keeps them from achieving more! There's been a slow change in my thinking with Zverev, Thiem, & Poulle! They're doing better, but the "Big 4" are approaching the end and retirement so I wouldn't be too full of myself if I were them! Thiem came out smoking and took advantage of Nole's timid play, but it ended up being little more than a practice session! I still see good things for him, but I said the same about Grigor and see what's happened to him! Has he even played a YEC? Thiem has made it rather early; even faster than Milos and Kei who I expected more from but for their fragile and brittle bodies! :nono :cover

That's the thing. I hate how all those players get literally intimidated by these top guys. After that, their games fall off, they start hitting a consistent 2-3 errors per game and that's that.
I guess the intensity of the match is too big for them.

Djokovic is back to winning ways again at least. He will hope he will be able to do better things with his confidence.

Yes, but unlike in regular tourneys, winning efficiently counts in the RR matches of WTF as they look at efficiency to decide who advances in case of ties.

Of course, the efficiency would not matter if he can win all his three matches. Then, he will end up as #1 with no ties.

My guess is Nole will lose one match and end up as #2 in his group due to inefficient wins.

I did not realize Thiem is such a choker. I might have to take back my prediction that he will win FO soon. That first set was an eye sore. I had to turn off the tv. Hoping a better match in Monfils v Raonic.

I've been saying for awhile that Thiem probably won't be a true elite player (#1 candidate, multi-Slam winner) but more of a second tier type like Tsonga and Berdych. Although unlike those players, he'll have peak years without Novak, Roger, and Rafa at the top of their games, so he'll have a chance to win a Slam or two.

No discussion about Nole's ball hitting into the crowd and temperamental interview afterwards? Can't wait until Andy next does something similar :D

This tourney's like a couple others; he's wasted his time so far trying to win! Hadn't even made a final after all this time; the same players year in and year out have dominated! Roger & Nole have owned it like no others in the past! Andy's tenure at #1 will be shorter than that of Rios who didn't even win 1 major and overtook Agassi for top honors after beating him in Miami back in '98! :nono  :dodgy: :cover

Raonic is not injured?

9 days ago he pulled a muscle. Looks like it was not serious.

Edit: It was reported a small tear in his quad.

Now with this win, Milos just strengthened his bid to finish the year ranked 4. Kei will now need to win 3 matches to pass him.

What happened to doubles specialist Rafa? Didn't he qualify?. Marc would have had a better chance with him. :)
