I've seen the replay and I like how Rafa has played, his serve, volley and returns. I'm still crossing fingers he skips Madrid or Roma :please:

He will play Rome not Madrid.

And still with the same %#$t. Reading what Twisted says about he thinks Rafa was silently banned and blah blah blah then we can say the same thing about Federer when in 2016 he withdrew from Miami a few days before, later he also did during the clay season.
There is something clear and sad, when Rafa came to the stage and he started to beat Federer who at the time and I have not any idea why he got such blind and crazy admiration from some people then those ones had a very bad reaction and they started to try to find the way to dismiss the Rafa's results saying stupid things and fake accusations. And when he returned in 2013 even playing not too good the two or three first tournaments the same people didn't waste the time and they started again with those dirty accusations. Well........after the return of Federer playing so fast, aggressive, and so well those people don't have too much to say about it, oh wait it's just a good tactic.......
I've read some very interesting articles about it (Roger's fans are not going to like it) but I rather don't stir the s#&t. At the end everything goes in the correct place

Is this a guess or based on any news?

Apparently he said recently

I am where I want to be, which is playing in Barcelona. Then I will rest to prepare Madrid and Rome.

So I guess he's still planning to play both?

It's the true, no? Not that I think it makes much difference to the end result of Rafa going through to the final!

Murray's QF and SF should be interesting, and will tell us something about whether his slump is continuing or not.

If they meet in the final, I don't see him beating Nadal though. He's beaten Rafa twice on clay, in 2015&2016 Madrid, but Rafa is playing better than he was playing then and Murray is doing worse.

Muzz did a couple of good tournaments and Rafa was playing bad losing against anyone but the Scottish never has been too good on clay

Nice win for Murray after dropping the 1st set. A match with Thiem on clay will tell us more where he's at IMO.

Ramos has given a tough fight to Muzz who still had the trauma after have lost to him in MC but in this match either one could have won.

My patronage of Chung seems to be trying to bite me in the ass. Some gratitude. Anyway, some great tennis, and real composure from the kid, and maybe less great from Nadal. (Too much short stuff, but he got better and more aggressive towards the end of the set.) Veteran play in the tie-break won it for Nadal. Let's see if young Hyeon can keep up his game and belief. In some trouble early.

Since 2014 he's been getting steadily better on clay. At Rome 2014 he destroyed Nadal 6-1 in the first set when he was playing super aggressive. He went back to his usual pusher, passive self after that but still kept it close losing 7-5 in 3rd. He beat Nadal at Madrid the last 2 straight years and 2015 was a beat down. He also made the RG 2016 final so it's safe to say he's now very good on clay.

Buddy, 2015 was a beat down against everybody. I wouldn't set too much store on matches Rafa played in 2015...

^ I do remember Chung getting some attention at the beginning of 2016. It would seem he hasn't done much since then but a decent tournament here that maybe he can build off of.

You should know I never use the term beat down unless it's genuine but 6-3 6-2 is a beat down.

Have you ever played the game at a high level..I referring to the advance college level or against players on the challenger tournaments...( I have played at the college level and against players whom competed on the C level..there are matches where the final score isn't indicative of what actually transacted on the court.

Of course the scoreline isn't always indicative of what actually happened but El Dude said it all, you Nadal fans are absolutely impossible to talk with. You moan about everything negative said about him. Would it make you feel better if I said Federer has had beat downs too? Every player has. I watched that Madrid 2015 match though and, yes, it was a beat down as you'd expect when Nadal lost in such lopsided fashion on his best surface. It happens. No need to defend absolutely everything Nadal related, even scores of matches. :s I was merely pointing out that Murray is now actually very good on clay since 2014. I can't stand him, but he's decent on all surfaces now.
