I think @britbox got it right when pointing out they gave her a WC right after she made a donation to help the firefighters.

I think that was for the Brisbane International she got a wild card there,I could be wrong.Being a former AO champion I knew she would get a WC in the AO

Oh, I thought he was referring to the AO, but apparently I’m not remembering it correctly. My bad.

Really surprised that Anisimova lost so early. I thought Vekic will choke against Dopeova, but she didn't. Well done. Both Vekic and Martic said their goal is top 10 this season, will see how that goes. I like Martic more.

I picked Anisimova and Vondrousa as the quarterfinalists from the last quarter and both are gone.

I feel that Dayana Yastremska (23) seed can defeat Caroline Wozniacki, she has a great change of direction, foot work is just a joy to watch, has plenty of time to play her shots, her 2nd serve can be her downfall, she just has to control her shots off both wings.

I am also interested to see how Coco Gauff plays Sorana Cirstea,I feel Gauff is more controlled in her game than Sorana.

The other higher seeds Serena,Barty,Osaka, should not have any trouble with their matches today ( I hope).

I picked Yastremska over Wozniacki in my draw. Was it here that Yastremska made a few rounds a year ago when she was only 15y old?

Though a player like Wozniacki on her farewell tournament might be a bit tough to break. Sometimes players find their mojo for the last push. Will be an interesting match.

I looked up her bio....her best results in GS were last year to date, in 2019,

AO 3rd Rd
French 1 Rd
Wimbledon 4 Rd
USO 3 Rd.

I looked her up too and found she is 19y old. Then something clicked in my head. It was Marta Kostyuk I was thinking about, she made R3 2 years ago in AO and she is now 17y old. It's hard to keep track of all these young women.
