Coco Gauff d Venus Williams 76(5) 63....Venus did play some gritty tennis especially in the 1st set,lack of match play was evident,she has not played a tournament since October in 2019 and it showed.Well done Coco!

My goodness. Another grand slam win over Venus Williams for CoCo Gauff. I still hate to see Venus Williams lose early. Especially as she barrels towards 40. But when you watch Gauff just keep her resolve and fight and play so smart and take it to Venus like she's been playing her for years, it's just so hard to be upset. And she does it just like Venus does it. If Gauff has been groomed after one of the Williams sisters, I'd say it's Venus. But, if we say that, then Gauff is a younger version of Venus. Faster. Hungrier. More confident actually.

The young woman is truly fantastic. Cirstea next. We'll see how that goes.

Venus of course will just keep going for now. She's taken losses like this before. She's had this exact loss before just 6 months ago. We'll see how the rest of her year goes. Will this be her last? Will it have to be?

I knew this match would be tricky for Ash,who made too many ufe especially towards the end of the 1st set,there were many breaks of serve in the first set,Tsurenko wins 7-5
