By the way, Sam also broke Coric in the first set all least once.

Fully enjoying this Coric/Querrey match. A big fan of a both guys. Querrey looking better for sure. Coric got broken to start the second set. But got the break back for 2-all. But has now been broken again and sits down 3-4. Querrey out here serving bombs, per the usual.

Not surprised to see Fucsovics take the first set over Shapovalov. Obviously Shapovalov had a solid ATP cup. But he's always prone to ups and downs. And I thought he might not come out taking Fucsovics as seriously as he should and that seems to be precisely what has happened. Though I haven't watched much of it because of the Coric/Querrey match. And the Osaka match. So it could be something else. But Fucsovics putting everything out there and getting his just reward.

Well I hate to see Coric lose in the first round of a slam. But I'm not surprised. Querrey loves the slams and Coric has been abysmal for the better part of a year. I really hope he can find he confidence and game again and rejoin his other top young guns but for now it looks like he'll continue to struggle.

Good for Querrey! Always nice to see him get some wins. And I think it's the first men's match to finish. So Querrey the first man into the second round this year.

Berrettini cruising, Shapo wins the second in TB. Carballes Baena in trouble. (You may not care, but I picked him.)

Why would you pick Baena? He is a typical clay courter. And he lost as expected.

I have my own formula. If I don't care about the outcome, I generally pick the Spaniard, USA player, or Italian. Places I've lived. I didn't care about Berankis. I don't really care that I was wrong. Any Berankis fans out there?

Commentator on the Shapo match says that part of the problem is that his choices have no purpose. Exactly that. No game plan, just flash. I like Shapo, but he should lose this match and then take a hard look at his game. Or win it, and do same.

Shapo's looking more and more like a less hateful Nick Kyrgios.

The fact that Fucsovics serves very well does not help him either. Denis does not return well.

Mini-break to Fucsovic on a great pass.
