Now, you're going to think I'm linking this because of the headline, but the clip really talks about court speed, i.e., that it's been slowed down this year, and the balls are heavy and fluff up fast. Biggest benefit to Novak, they think, some to Rafa, least to Roger. But Martina says it suits Ash Barty's game, too, so...if you're looking for a possible motivation.

Yeah, if the court is slow and the ball fluff up fast, advantage Djokovic. At this point of his career, Nadal prefers a fast high-bouncing court. Nadal does not want to grind some rallies anymore because the court will hurt his knees a lot more. We know Federer always love fast low-bouncing court.

Thiem is another player that will benefit from these type of conditions. With his wind up on both sides, he needs time to execute his shots so having the ball fluff up will allow him to execute his shots.

The two players that are kinda in the middle are Tsitsipas and Medvedev. Tsitsipas' game is suited for fast low-bouncing court tennis however he can defend a lot better on a slow low-bouncing court. On the other hand, Medvedev can absolutely grind rallies in a slow high-bouncing court, but sometimes he would not mind playing in a fast court because he could serve big and play aggressive when he needs to in a match.

I also think the weather can be a factor,I noticed in Rafa's 1st match the balls were flying,he had to get one of his racquets re-strung,it was a warmer sunny day, compared to the first day of play, cooler conditions making the balls heavier.

Absolutely! Unfortunately, most of the main matches in the AO will be at night so Nadal will lose some of the advantages. It is why Roland Garros inside Philipe Chatrier on a warm sunny day is the ideal playing condition for Nadal because the balls are flying fast and jumping high off the court.

Is there a site that has this exact format, but with the qualifiers’ names listed, latest winners, etc?

Not the latest winners, but this site has printable draws with the qualifiers inserted.

For the men's, the ATP site has a good one, and you can get h2h info, plus it's updated:

I like being able to see at a glance who is headed to meet. The Aus Open draw has every match separated out so I can’t see who is going to meet down the road. Thanks, nonetheless, for the responses.

Fognini is such an asshole. I hate myself for picking him to go long in my draw, now I need to root for the fucking prima donna...

I looked at his draw, and he's got Cuevas next. They've only played on clay, and Cuevas has had the better of him, for the most part. The one time he beat Cuevas, it was in a 5-setter in DC. And Cuevas is no mere clay-courter. If the Fog is going to win, chances are good he goes 5 again. I'm with you in that I picked Fabio to move on, but I'm about to switch my loyalty to Cuevas. I've never liked Dimitrov, no matter how pretty his tennis. Fabio is easier to love/hate. I agree that sometimes the tirades are amusing and acceptable. But sometimes he's just a dick, and he has been very off-putting this AO.
Carlos Ramos doing the usual great job umpiring the match and controlling the prima donna superbly.
I think Ramos is a great umpire, and I also think he's a bit of a dish. :)

Sorry, I meant Guido Pella. Apologies to South American friends that I get them mixed up sometimes. The h2h info is correct for Pella, though.

You had to chose precisely an Argentinian and an Uruguayan?

Well, keep out of Montevideo for a while just to be on the safe side now. At least Pella is not from Buenos Aires, if he was right now there would be hordes of Uruguayans looking after you with pitchforks on their hands.

But your assessment of Pella is precise. When he is on, he can be a very good player, but even if he is not a complete clay court specialist (as Cuevas is), he still is more dangerous on the dirt. But with the number of UFEs Fognini made in his last match... I guess it was around 80 just on the forehand side! Pella is solid and that could win him the match.

I couldn't be more embarrassed. I've even been to Uruguay and Argentina. I know the difference, even though they are primos/hermanos, let's face it. And that the flags are similar. Their names have 5 letters and 5 letters. PC and GP. And both were born in Argentina. I have just slotted them into the same place in my brain. And you think you're mad, just don't tell my friends in Argentina or Uruguay that I did that!

In any case, yes, I think F3 could have his hands full with Pella. If Fabio is going to continue to be an ill-tempered brat, then I hope he loses.
