If Fed wasn't from a country that got extremely rich from washing the money of war criminals and tennis would be more financially accessible to everyone in the world there would be ard 50 people on he GOAT list before Rogi.....

Seriously...you just threw Nazi money laundering & fencing on the table as a put down to Roger winning his 20th slam? How fucking juvenile. Grow up, please.

Tell me about it... talk about winning ugly... But it's #20!!!

The second set was legitimately won by Cilic and there is nothing ugly about that loss The fourth one was of course gifted by Roger and it was very very ugly loss.

You actually explained why there is no GOAT. Thanks.

I have no interest in the GOAT to be honest. Roger is the most accomplished winner in the Open era. That's enough for me.

And you should be very please with his accomplishments, as a fan. As I am with Rafa's, as a fan. What more do people want?

If only everyone would do the same and let it lie at that - but they don't. Everybody has to quantify everything in terms of THE BEST, #1, all-time, GOAT, etc.

Obviously, if there is one, it's Roger. It just don't think there is "One." This isn't The Bible or "The Matrix."
There can only be one. Not sure what the bible or the matrix has to do with it.

Please list your 50.
Those 50 are probably starving atm....

Nah, i just stated the obvious, that we are still in a very primitive era of tennis where the person from one of the most corrupt ( and one of the richest) countries wins....

Lol! I admire your effort. H2H is a construct that only became relevant when the main Fed-hating fans came together, Sampras-fans and Rafa-fans. If that's the island you want to settle on, that's ok. The rest of us will stay on the main land. It's all about the W's baby..
I think a H2H is actually a thing. A rivalry surely is, and the Nadal-Federer one will live beyond them. And Nadal has the better of it, especially in their salad days.

You agree that Nadal is the clay GOAT, I'm guessing. And that no one has done what Laver has done, even in the Open Era. So how is there only "one?"

Of course you would think that. You're a Rafa fan. You need something to hang on to. I get it. The simple fact is that tennis players don't grow up wanting to dominate H2Hs. They want to win trophies. That's what Roger is doing. As I said... enjoy the island :)

I don't actually remember people using the term GOAT in tennis until Sampras approached Emerson's GS record (and Emerson was never the GOAT in anybody's estimation)... I think it was an American media creation that was spun off from all the Michael Jordan stuff. It's almost got to the stage where if you aren't deemed the GOAT then somehow you failed in your duty...

There are many things Roger has done that no one else has done. It's all meh.. to me. Frankly I think Novak's 4 in a row is an order of magnitude greater achievement than what Laver did in country club days. The depth, internationalisation of the modern tennis made it a quantum more difficult. I don't hear too many people bleating about it

And that's fine for you to push it off onto an "island." You may not like it, but they will forever been seen as a famous rivalry.

Dude, you need a new hobby. Why don't you go join the Peace Corps and teach tennis to the poor on dirt courts in Malawi or Ethiopia? Roger's foundation has school programs in both places. I'm sure they could use a tennis instructor since Roger's kinda busy right now...

I'm pretty sure people call that a massive achievement.

The most storied rivalry. Absolutely. But if you really think people are going to remember the H2H more than the number of slams, you really are living on an island.... and it ain't Manhattan

This. I think it started with Michael Jordan, too, and I've said so, before. It's a media construct. Then tennis needed one and golf and etc. When someone might have said Borg, for example, in his time, was the GOAT, and he was, arguably, at his zenith, it wasn't even a thing.
