Comes to think of it? Whatever happened to the italian female stars of yester-year. There were 4 or five competitive names about a decade ago but they're fallen by the wayside now. You don't hear of any italian female up and commers.
They actually do have a couple of young guns in Paolini and Bronzetti.

The Banshee d Kerber 62 36 61
Kerber coming back on the tour, needs more matches, match play, took then 2nd set and then faded fast in the final set
BTW Please someone back at Collins hotel Burn that horrid Fluro Pink Romper Suit..Thanks
This is not good. I really needed Angie Baby to remove Banshee and her fugliness from the premises. I'm thinking we, and by we, I really mean you because you're local to hire a covert operative to steal her clothes. I have no issue funding the op. I can paypal the necessary funds right now...

Thinking about it, why dosent Osaka play lower grade tournaments until she finds her game more, like WTA250 and/or WTA500, though some draws at the level at 500 can be tough. You dont want to get beaten and lose in 1st round or 2nd round tournaments, you cannot improve or find your game, losing early
She did play a warm up. Won the first round and then lost the 2nd round to Pliskobot. She probably should have signed up for some matches at Kooyung.

Osaka needs match play which is normal, seeing she is coming back from having baby, still I think she now play some lower grade tournaments, she is still unfit to me physically, going out in R1 and R2 of a tournament is not going to improve your game

Pleasing result for Clara Tausen who is a talented young player though injuries at times have stopped her advancement
75 75 over Minnen

Hoegren will be pleased with Clara Tausen winning the 1st set 75 over Minnen
I noticed Tausen competed in a Canberra tournament before the AO and made the SFs
Certainly pleased with this and waiting for her match against Azarenka

AW this is terrible, absolutely terrible result. Awwwww my friends:loudly-crying-face:

Angelique Kerber has been ousted in the opening round at the 2024 Australian Open Tennis Championships.

It's certainly a far cry from 2016 where she won the AO in style.
:smt007

Angelique, in her hey-day was an absolute Angel :yesyes:

Words cannot possibly express how bad i'm taking this now.

Unless there's a Leylah vs Emma Raducanu U S Open re-match, I certainly won't be watching any more women's tennis during this tournament, as a result.

Angie Baby , You're a Special Lady", indeed:good:

Nice performance from Emma Raducanu 63 62 over 'giant killer' Shelby Rogers 63 62

Good to see Alja Tomljanovic battle pass Petra Martic 76(3) 46 64 in front of her home crowd. After missing the AO and just 10 matches in 2023 due to a knee injury

Rybakina, Zhang, Pegula all through

Day 1 has been competed over 3 days, reading the comments from players they like the early start at the AO on Sunday.

Vondrousova (7),, Samsonova (13), ,Kudermetova, (15),Alexandrova (17), Linette, (20) retired) Vekic,(21) Cirstea(22) , Potapova(23), Kalinina (24),Zhu, (29)Wang, (30) Bouzkova (31) seeds eliminated Round 1

Day 4 matches,

Young 16 yo Mirra Andreev plays her idol Ons Jabeur (6) I hope the youngest keeps her eyes on the prize and dosent get overwhelmed in playing Ons

Aryna Sabalenka gets to play another Quailfier in Brenda Fruhvirtova, wake me up when she gets to play someone of substance, no offense to Brenda at all
L.Fernandez (32) will have to have her return game 'on song' and her own serve, when she takes on Parks, a big hitter and also has a powerful serve

B.Krejcikova (9) can count herself lucky still being at the AO in R2, she nearly went out, she plays T.Korpatsch

Paula Badosa vs A.Pavlychenkova, Paula had a good first round win, though she will find this match harder in Pavs.

Amanada Anisimova vs N.Posorska , it was good to see a smile on Amanada's face with her first round win, hopefully she can win this match

I cant see Coco Gauff having any trouble with Caroline Dolehide, these 2 have met once before, Gauff the winner

Caroline Wozniacki takes on youngster Maia Timofeeva, Caroline will be too good for the Maria.

Tough first set with Woz winning a breadstick - which doesn't tell anything about the tough play
