ah Buono, i just arrived back home so i did not see his match. Good to hear. Now, how did he look to you? As he was cruising along did he take the opportunity to play more attacking style and comes into the net ? Presumably he'll need to master these tactics when it gets to the business end of second week!

Jannik is building, his game nicely, Jannik still needs more time on his transition to the net, though he has become more 'aware' thanks to his coaches, Jannik has always been a 'work in progress in area's eg net play , serve and working on his physical strength. Look his frame is thin, he will never be a physical giant, lol! main thing in GS tennis is able to play at a good level in 5 set matches.

I posted at the start of this GS, that I believe Jannik would win his 1st GS on a HC, either at the AO or USO, he loves indoor courts and has won titles indoors, pity we cant have a GS indoors lol!

God forbid! I hate indoor tennis. It's bad enough that the YEC is always played indoors. The sound of it is horrible, and it just reminds us that, as much as tennis tries to chase eternal sunshine, it runs out of it, and plays the season beyond what it should.

I thought that would get you going lol! I am not a fan of indoor tennis either.

am watching "The Telephone kid" Ben Shelton's battle vs veteran frenchman, Adrian Mannarino, look as though they're going 5. Expect Ben will prevail.

This match is really fun to watch, both are lefties .
This american boy has his critics but overall i reckon he's "telephone" antics are fun and harmless. He could go places.

Nice match for Novak against Etch-o-sketch. Clean hitting from both guys. First set the forehand had more errors, but Novak was able to dial it in. The tiebreaker was close to perfection.

Two sets all and Ben's just held serve in the opening game, 5th set. Match is almost 4 hours.

Benski's looks tired. He's fighting to hold serve to go up 2-1 in the 5th. Two very long service games by Ben in the fifth.

He's been in a lull since he got broken in the 4th set. He just has to survive this. I've got to think Mannarino's level is going to come down at some point.

It could but i don't think it will come to that as the frenchman has the edge with tons of experience. Young Ben's going to have to earn this win with sheer guts and finding something extra.
