God I hope not. That might be enough to convince me to go skydiving without a parachute.
Lol, Nadal has grown on me on clay. I guess it depends on if he stays fit. He should do a Federer and focus more his schedule. The guy is so unbeatable on clay, even a significant drop in level should not affect him too much.

I think the same about Thiem. I just can't hop on the bandwagon even on clay where he is very good but not great. I feel like the last couple of years have been misleading. Sure he has been the 2nd best on clay but that was with Novak, Stan, and Murray struggling with injuries and Roger no longer playing on clay. It's like the guy was set up to be the 5th or 6th best clay courter but got bumped up to #2. I think the other youngsters will catch up to him on clay before he is able to win one.
Completely agree with this. He is great to watch though on clay.

Novak wins the first 6-4. It was very close though, Novak grinding it out. Double fault on set point by Zverev at 5-4.

I agree he could easily win 5 more RG's which is why I make a big deal of Roger's underachieving and that he needs to be weary of the future and stay motivated to win more majors. Also those pathetic non-clay losses Roger had to Nadal (08 Wimbledon and 09 AO) may end up haunting him more than we thought in the end.

YIKES! You have been drinking the @DarthFed kool-aid. I'm sorry, but let's just face it: some of you Fed fans have some really testosterone issues with Nadal. You hate his game, so you figure the only people that like him must be women who lust after the bod. Or that's the trope, which is really about Rafa having always been the "alpha" in the Fed match up. There have been so many attempts to undermine not only Rafa's tennis, but his masculinity. Which comes off as a fool's errand, but also seems to come from a place of deep insecurity on the part of the Federer fan. Facts on the ground: in sport, having such a large fan base, most of Rafa's fans are men. And let's be real: the butchest one is Nadal. :-)2

What a bunch of nonsense. A big part of the Nadal crowd is women. They latched on back when Nadal was built incredibly well as a teenager. You also had those that liked Nadal only because they didn't like Roger. The disgruntled Sampras fans and others who just simply didn't like Fed naturally hopped on the Nadal bandwagon. Sure he has some that actually like his game for God knows what reason but there are many in that crowd that are just hoping Nads will be nads deep in them. And the disgruntled Roger haters still are on that bandwagon even though Pistol Pete's records are gone.

Gotta disagree there because he had a significant drop in level when Novak beat him easily. He has to still be playing very well to win imo.

Nonsense? Read what you just wrote. Logic tells us that any player with that many fans has to have a lot of male fans. This is sports, you remember, right? And you're still dragging out the old Sampras people? You really built up a story that suits you a long time ago and it has ossified in your brain. Just think back to the old days of tennis.com, when Rafa was young and dishy...these were the Rafa fans: Kieran, broken, tented, nehmeth (before he converted), Samson/ClayDeath and me...the stalwarts, anyway. I know that Kieran was a Sampras man, but he's still a Rafa fan. Still, that's one woman. You have some goofy theories, but your personal conviction about the make up of the Nadal fanbase is the goofiest.

Just not playing crap, which he was in 2015. He's lost to Novak playing well below his clay A+, though, several times. His wins over him in '12, '13 and '14 were mostly no better than B level. 2015 was like C-/D.

That's true, but it still requires an in-form Djokovic to take him out. Djokovic will not get any better than 2015 I suspect.

Sorry I didn't get around to editing. I expect him to lose some masters or best of 3 but RG I meant he has to be well below par to lose.

I expect Nadal to win most of the RG titles in the coming 4-5 years if not all of them.
He will not win RG after he turns 35, I could bet on that.
There is a huge drop off the cliff after that age for almost all the players . Rafa will be no exception.
I would give him 3 more if he is lucky to stay fit and other to keep underperforming.

If Rafa's fit, it's not a matter of other players underperforming. They're simply not even close.
