Now that Roger has a set and a break, he can relax and play his game. This set should be routine.

Here's a crazy thought: the gap in age between Roger and Sascha (16 years) is similar to Jimmy Connors and Boris Becker, Ivan Lendl and Gustavo Kuerten, or Pete Sampras and Novak Djokovic.

WTF. Two double faults in a row for Roger, now down 30-40.

I was angry he played Montreal because I felt Cincy would be a better warm up for him. I don't care a hoot about yearend no 1. The man is the all time leader in weeks which is a greater reflection of dominance in my view
I didn't say you said that. It was Darth and GSM making the argument, above, for trying to get #1 before the AO, which I find to be the opposite of their thinking last fall.

I wasn't trying to refute what you said. I was just posting what my thinking was :)

Roger's serving today is as bad as I've seen it for quite some time.

Fed muttering to himself a lot. Hope he gets it done in two sets.

Sasha seems to be dominating baseline rallies ATM.

Sasha breaks after Fed saves two set points.

Well, he deserved this one (especially after blowing up 4-0 in 1st set TB).

If Roger starts talking to himself, it means he is in trouble and not liking the form of the opp.

Including with back injury?

I was thinking that. It was similar in that Roger was huffing and puffing, being tentative and missing everything.

But now Sascha is imploding - down two breaks. You could really see his youth in that game (to go down 1-4).

Well, the sloppy one this set has been Zverev.

Even if Roger closes this out, and I expect him to, there's something deeply unimpressive about how he's playing. It'll be good for the season to come to an end for him so he can rest and recover his speed. There's something very conservative about how he's playing this week

None of my streams are working but Fed's back was giving trouble in Basel so if he's serving crap, most likely his back is acting up again. He served like crap in Basel too and had back issues there. Anyway, he has this one in the bag now.

Roger the man just showed Sasha the boy how it's done the adult way. That was experience and will over youthful lack of stamina. Seeing that, I think Zverev has a long way to go before he'll be a real contender in slams. That was not impressive to me at all. The old man was there for the taking
