Super victory by the Italian Salvatore Caruso in straight sets over Gillou Simon.
He surely plays a lot better than his ranking would suggest, which is 147.
He has a big serve and powerful strokes from the back of the court. He stayed with Gillou and won many long rallies which is very impressive.
Nicky done.

And for his efforts he gets to play Novak. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted, right, Salvatore? But at least he’s up to No. 121 in the live rankings.

Nishioka won't give a match easy to Delpo. Now he is a break up in 4th. Fast little guy, but he can hit strong from the baseline.

Nishioka is a feisty player, got derailed due to some injuries.

p.s. Finally, I managed to find radio commentary in RG website.

Delpo loses the 4th set in the TB. A bad drop shot which gave enough time for Nishioka was the primary culprit.

I wanted JMDP to win this quickly so that he can save his energy for the SF. If JMDP has to play long matches like this, he may not even reach SF.

Goodness me Borg has let himself go hasn't he LOL! I am a huge fan of the Silver Fox by the way.

Mon Dieu; he's over 60! What do you want him to do; remain the God Of Thunder until the day he dies? I'd be happy enough to keep my hair at 62! He was a major babe back in the 70's and 80's with that FILA wear that was so tailored and tight on players! It was unfortunate when some potbellied slob put on an extra large and ruined it for everyone! :nono:  :banghead: :cuckoo:   :ptennis:

Sasha managed to not be in the news today (with a three set win). It has been a long time since he did that in a GS match.

Sasha claims that Lendl is still his coach even though he did not bother to come to RG. Is that actually true or he does not want to expose the situation during a GS.
