Like I said a short while ago... Sascha is weak sauce. It's time to stop mentioning him in discussions about those with the potential to be a multi-slam winner. Far more interesting to discuss his potential to actually get to a 2nd week...

Lendl might give him a little more time! As good as he was; even defeating Connors and McEnroe at times, he still floundered in majors until '84 FO where John donated the final being up 2 sets and a brk! It can still turn around, but it isn't looking good at the moment!

I still think it'll be a case of when (rather than if) he makes that first big breakthrough. Might take a while and it's an ugly journey when you just look at the majors to date, but I think he'll get there eventually. Until then... enjoy the GS horror show.

Lendl's not here for this, is he? He must be getting pretty frustrated with Sascha.

it's not the same mate. Lendl was getting to semis and finals. Why do folks keep bringing up Lendl when talking about Sascha. That's only valid if you're talking about coaching. They are nothing like each other. Murray had a case but Sascha? No way no how. He has to actually get to semis and finals to be Lendl like. That's where Ivan was falling short. As things stand I'll do a Riverdance jig if I see this boy in a quarter finals

this was classy from Zverev, picking up a racquet and later winning a point

Sascha took up all the daylight time on PC court and now it looks like they'll have to send Le Monf to another court.

that's not the way to win a tournament with those stick legs of his. He'll be lucky to get to the 2nd week...

The focus will shift slowly to Stefanos, because after RG he will pass Sasha in ranking and will lead the Next Gen.
He is a different breed altogether.

I'm no fan of Zverev but hopefully that will inspire him once he sees Stefanos--and eventually, maybe, the two Canadians--ahead of him. He's so used to being the young prodigy in the top 5. We like to think that any of the Holy Trinity would have won more Slams if the others weren't around, but I think we underestimate how much their rivalry inspired them to work hard.

While Stefanos is quite a bit behind with no big titles, he will likely do better at Slams, at least in the foreseeable future. He'll be a fixture in the second week, I imagine, and win one within the next year or two. My guess is that he'll be the first NextGenner to win a Slam (not counting Thiem, who I give about even chances with him but is cuspy LostGen/NextGen, imo).
