^ I still consider him the favourite at Wimbledon till proven otherwise personally. All you need look to is Nadal at the lead up events to RG and then the result in the main tournament.

Then why didn't Roger win Wimbledon in 2013?

'cos he was 32? Murray's in his prime.

What's sad is that this result does not surprise me. Murray will doing well if he gets past the semis at Wimby and not many people will be too shocked anymore if he's out before the fourth round. He just doesn't have it anymore. And Mauresmo isn't the answer. Would love to see him prove me wrong but my expectations for Murray are pretty much gone.

Lol.

Last time Murray lost early in Queens was to Mahut in 2012, he went on to reach his first Wimbledon final and win Olympic gold on grass. He also reached the Roland Garros semi finals just last week, equalling his best result at what is by far his worst slam and is on a run of 13 consecutive major quarter finals but sure, he doesn't have it anymore.

Agree. Complete overreaction. Nadal is vulnerable first week of Wimbledon as is Federer these days. Djokovic is just not convincing on grass so that imo leaves Murray as the favorite.

My thoughts exactly TF7.

No doubt that this was a disappointing result but it could well be a blessing in disguise. He's resting for a few days and then he can prepare for Wimbledon. I'm looking forward to the #Rally4Bally charity match on Sunday.

I want Berdych to win Queen's now.

Nadal can't buy a win on grass. Federer has gotten fed up of the second week of slams, Murray hasn't reached a final for 12 months now, I have to put Djokovic as favourite, but only by default. They all have a shot at the title though in my opinion.

We'll see soon enough! I would be thrilled to see Murray win Wimbledon again but his results have been horrible since last July. I guess we'll see Djokovic or a surprise winner at Wimby this year.

The fact that Andy hasn't reached a final since Wimbledon last year is cause for concern. It would have been good for him to defend Queen's. I just hope he turns up ready to defend Wimbledon.

I never concern myself with the favourite tag. It means nothing really. All that matters is who holds that trophy aloft. Just hoping it's Andy again.

I see it similarly. Although grass is Djokovic's weakest surface he had little trouble dealing with everyone aside from Del Potro, Federer and Murray and maybe Tomic (Wimbledon 2011) and Hewitt (Olympics) during the last three years. Especially with the 5-8 seeds seeming fairly managable for him with Wawrinka and Raonic, that might be dangerous if they get there but recently struggled on grass and can easily go out before the quarter final and Berdych and Ferrer, which don't trouble him too much usually, one has to like Novak's chances to at least reach the semi final again. If he meets Murray/Federer there or Nadal/Murray/Federer in a final he probably would be the underdog but those three look far from guaranteed to get that far at the moment.

I don't know how to rate Raonic on grass. He lost in the second round last year and lost in Halle to Gojowczyk. You'd think with his big serve it'd be comfortably his strongest surface but it actually seems that the clay is treating him best at the moment as it compensates for his relatively poor movement.

I'd have Stan and Berdych as the most worrying quarter final opponents, then Raonic, lastly Ferrer.

I think Raonic played good in Halle two years ago, when he lost to Federer in a 3rd set tiebreak or something like that but has done nothing on grass since then. My impression is that grass is the least favorite surface of Raonic and Isner as their weaknesses return, movement and the inability to consistently handle low balls are exaggerated, so they basically score no breaks at all. Also they hold their own serve nearly everytime anyway, so the surface can't help much in that regard and might even lessen the effectiveness of their kick as a second serve. Karlovic is somewhat different as he goes for rather flat second serves more often, plays S&V, has a solid backhand slice and is fairly good at low volleys.

In terms of probability to get to the quarter finals my ranking of the 5 to 8 seeded players before the draw would be Berdych, Ferrer (basically even), Wawrinka, Raonic. In terms of the danger they present if they get there I would rank them Berdych, Wawrinka, Raonic, Ferrer. Berdych is potentially a quite difficult opponent for Federer and Murray, but a rather easy match up for Djokovic and Nadal, the others would normally be distinct underdogs against any Big 4-player.

Ah, Muzza! After saving a billion set points, Stepanek takes it... :clap

I just watched the first set on the Tennis Channel. I cannot believe he had eight set points, and lost the set, while Stepanek converted on his first.

Argh don't get me started Tented. I may have called Andy a few things during that match. Quite a few things to he exact. Sometimes tough love is required. He better get his act together real quick.

Tsonga also got upset today by Matosevic in straight sets. This event is really up for grabs. Loving it.

I've stopped being surprised at Tsonga's defeats. I keep telling myself that on his day he can beat anyone but now it seems to be more of a case of he could potentially lose to anyone. His last notable performance was his win over Federer at Roland Garros last year.

I just read on twitter that Novak is getting married before Wimbledon and Andy is best man. Really not sure it's accurate but Novak did just have his stag weekend in Ibiza. Not sure about the Andy bit though.

See link in general news thread.

We had that discussion just the other day, that his best days are behind him. When he is not a top 10 anymore, the underdogs probably swing against him more freely as well.

tsonga's rank should rise up abit from Wimbledon onwards as it was 2nd rd last years wimb he retired with knee injury, missing alot o north America/Canada hc swing.
