Told ya this Kyrgios kid is gifted. Takes out Djokovic now. And yes, his serve is great. He has a flow in his game that makes me like him along with Andrey Rublev (among the youngsters). So Kyrgios and Rublev it is for me.

No doubts that the serve has to do a lot on HC like in grass. In Wimbledon 2014 Kyrgios hit 37 aces against Nadal who made 44 winners and only 18 unforced errors. Anyway I've read that Novak was very mad after the loss, he said "I'm not well" and in the very short press conference after the match he said "he has a great serve, I hope he wins this tournament". Well Novak, I hope not and I wouldn't be surprised if he lose the next match vs Querrey

I think we are going to see more awful results from Djokovic for much of this year. He isn't moving as well or hitting as hard and he will have to adapt his game and I think he will.

I think Kyrgios won't be number one because his tennis IQ isn't high enough. How many points did he lose with drop shots and yet he kept hitting them. Djoke played well. He has nothing to be disappointed about.

I don't think it's lack of I Q but rather a lack of discipline by both Kyrgios and especially Monfils ..those two have elite NBA basketball type of athleticism but that doesn't always translate well to the tennis courts..

Here is a surprising stat: Kyrgios is 3-1 against Novak, Roger, and Rafa, but 0-5 vs Andy.

Nick is a total nightmare for any player especially the very first encounter. Really Nick has to be forced out of his comfort zone and really has to wait til his meds wear off..:laydownlaughing

I don't understand that stats, I know he is 1-1 against Nadal and 1-0 against Roger

Nick is also 1-0 because he defeated Djoker last night..that makes him Three to one vs Rafa, Fed and Novak

Even if he wins this tourney, Rafa can't get into top four. Roger is now at 10. This means there is a potential chance for another Fedal match at IW, but as early as in Round of 16.

I think his tennis IQ is fine, he just isn't disciplined. The real reason he won't be number 1 is his height. I have said this many times, but tall, lanky guys like him (193 cm) simply don't ever find the consistency and they regularly struggle on clay. Not to mention how injury prone he is. If I am not mistaken, the most successful tall guy was Safin. He was much less serve reliant than Nick, to be honest. He moved better. He reached number 1.
I sincerely doubt either Kyrgios or Zverev will change this trend.
Even with the big 4 out of the picture.

I not really enthusiastic about another Fedal again ..
Man..that AO lost to Fed really was a double whammy to Rafa's chances to ever be the GOAT...

Well Indian Wells and Miami are much slower courts than than AO so it definitely favours Rafa more than Roger on both courts but, who knows, if Roger keeps the matches relatively clean and hits the backhand as well as he did at the AO, he can beat anyone. Just makes it that bit harder to hit winners and aces on the slower hard courts at IW and Miami. Might at least get to watch one or two matches next weekend due to the 8 hour time difference with California and here.

Wouldn't mind watching Nadal v Cilic but it's on at 1am here so screw that. Anyway, hope Kyrgios wins the title and keeps a high level all year long. About time at least one young player made some inroads.

Kyrgios can win a 500 series but not gonna be too confident in him keeping it together for a master series or definitely a two week slam...

He should make the 2nd week of Wimbledon in his sleep. If he doesn't it's a mystery. His game is perfect for grass.
