Indeed she did in a very demanding way - Clara in the quarters and still a game to play today - doubles. Also back on top of the ace list so things looks quite good for her View attachment 9972

I hope Jazz will be okay she took a nasty fall in her match against Kenin, being the defending champion at Dubai she will lost points, though the main thing the injury wont see her out of action for long. Kenin d Paolini 64 60
EDIT:
Jazz rolled her ankle in the match, has also withdrawn from the doubles, she will get some scans, make sure there isnt any ligament damage.

Carnage for the seeds today in Dubai
Sabalenka (1) Paolini (4) Pegula (5) Zheng (7) Badosa (9)

Sad to see the attendance in Dubai poor? maybe it will pick up for the weekend

BTW,
A title from Swiatek in Dubai would put her just 300 points behind Sabalenka in the race to No 1 before the Sunshine Double.

I have some concerns regarding Coco Gauff who has lost her 3rd consecutive match in Dubai
Gauff has been one of the best players in the last few months, winning Beijing Open, won the WTA finals, started the season well winning the United Cup with the USA., then things went south, lost QF match to Badosa at the AO, lost to Kostyuk in Doha and then Kessler in Dubai, where she did have BPs and could not convert.
Hopefully she can reset her game during the Sunshine Double she is too good of a player!

Another seed bites the dust in Dubai as Navarro (8) loses to Cristea in 3 sets, 76(5) 36 75, this was a match that Emma should have won, had her chances

The most glaring fault in Sabalenka's game at present is her serve, her team must work together to get it back to where it once was? she needs to do urgent work wither her Bio Mechanic specialist who she hired a few years back, when her serve was just awful.

BTW,
Paolini who was the defending champion in Dubai and lost to Kenin in straights sets, though she did have a nasty fall and rolled her ankle and should of withdrawn after the 1st set as she could not compete, though credit to her she continued in the match.
Paolini's loss has enabled Madison Key to sneak into the Top 5 for the first time.

Semis here I come - well at least Clara Tauson does. Now #27 in the liveranking and #1 on the ACElist with 128 ases THIS YEAR

Two equal players

Clara has really 'come of age' in this tournament in Dubai, she has always had the potential, a lovely clean striker of the ball, this match up against Noskova, who also plays quite similar to Clara was a great match up, well done Clara into the SFs of a WTA1000 and well deserved!

In the earlier
Just like Osta, Sorana is another player who shows up once a year and has a good run in 1000 level tourney. Then disappears for the rest of the year. Ever noticed that?
Yes, she would have to be in her early 30's and apparently she does live in Dubai, so she is accustomed to these courts, Emma had her chances but could not convert them when it mattered

In the earlier QF match , The Teen Queen became the youngest SF in Dubai
Mirra came from a break down in the 2nd set to win 63 63 over the No 2 seed Swiatek
This is Mirra's fifth career Top Ten victory!
Mirra will turn 18 this coming April, then she will be able to play a full schedule with any age restrictions, this will be interesting to see how she 'handles' playing a full WTA schedule

BTW,
I have just read that Vukov, Rybaina's ex coach can still appeal his ban of 1 year
Rybakina now works with a new coach Italian Davide Sanguinetti, who is in close contact with Vukov, who cant officially Rybakina because of his ban
