Qualifer Polina Kudermetova has come from a break down to take the first set from Sabalenka 64 in Brisbane.
I have been impressed with Polina all tournament, good serve, plays good offensive tennis

Messy first set from both Iga and Coco breaks of serve, serve letting each player down at times, and Coco finally wins the 1st set 64 at the United Cup Sydney
Iga has to stop 'over hitting' for starters.

She can't help herself. Every time she's under the gun from someone who can match her pace and/or defense, she unnecessarily pummels the ball. It worked against Boulter and Elena so in her eyes it's a winning strategy. Coco is a different beast. She's playing right into her hands.

Yeah and Iga is pulling some shady stuff here today. She loses the first set and takes her customary toilet break. Now loses the break in the 2nd set and immediately calls the trainer.

Karolina Pliskova has also withdrawn from the AO, Pliskova had ankle surgery after the USO

Bianca Andreescu, who pulled out of the ASB Classic this past week, will not be competing at the AO in 2025
Andreescu , currently ranked #132 ( outside the main draw) will miss the slam in Melbourne for a second consecutive year

Clara Tauson has withdrawn from Hobart - expected and then she'll have a week to load new energy before the Open starts. I think Wozniacki will be at the Open as a reporter - she's actually not bad in that role. Well the rumor mill is working overtime right now.

Thanks, Caroline would be a good reporter if she does come to the AO
I have never liked a player, playing one week before a major, Clara had a good tournament, no need for her to compete at Hobart

Mirra Andreeva withdraws from Adelaide International and will be replaced by Maria Sakkari who needs match practice.
I am glad Mirra has withdrawn she got to the SFs at Brisbane enough match play before the AO starts on Janauary 12th

Yes she is. As MM said, she did the same thing in her last match. Some bullshit tactics to break the opponent's momentum.

I just read some of Iga's match interview after she lost to Gauff at the United Cup
Iga said the reason she took the MTO saying she was tired??? I cant believe she said that, out loud, she could not have misunderstood the question?
Iga has become a 'strategic bathroom strategist'
