De Jong earns a special exempt entry for the biggest tournament in his country ( Rotterdam) next week.
De Jong defeated fellow countryman Griekspoor in Montpellier to reach his maiden SF 76(5) 64., also a chance to break into the Top 100 tomorrow
This news just to hand,
Aleksander Kovacevic ended up taking the 'special exempt entry for Rotterdam, which means the De Jong, who didnt receive a WC, wont play the biggest tournament of his country. Kinda Messy!

SFs Montpellier,
Not before 3pm local time
J.de Jong vs Felix Auger Aliassime (2)

Not before 4.30pm local time
A.Rublev (1) vs A.Kovacevic

Jannik Sinner quietly joined a rather exclusive club - one that doesn't even include Federer: By winning the AO, he's won the last FIVE big tournaments he's played in. Only FOUR players have done it in the Open Era: Sinner, Djokovic, Nadal, and Borg.

Oh yeah, Sinner, Nadal and Borg have done it once each - and "just" five tournaments, not winning the sixth. Novak has done it THREE times, including twice with SEVEN big titles in a row.

I thought Serbia would win, especially after Rune lost his opening singles match,
Rune was the hero winning in singles and doubles

Results of SF in Montipellier
FAA (2) d De Jong 64 76(4)
Kovacevic d Rublev (1) 75 64, suprise upset as Rublev hadnt been troubled at all so far in the tournament, his serve let him down, when needed. Q Kovacevic also defeated Bublik, defending champion, this is his first ATP final.

Mens Final in Montipellier, not before 3pm local time

FAA (2) vs Kovacevic Q

Tim Henman says Wimbledon has no desire to become a 15 day event like other slams.
"I think the appetite to go 15 days is zero, first and foremost because of the courts.
"The big issue from when it was a 13 day event was that the middle Sunday was absolutely about watering the court to make sure that it was going to be still alive for the latter part of the tournament".
"Centre court is the one that gets played on the most because it is used every day and to have it in the best condition for the final weekend, it was a big decision to go to 14 days. The research and data around that you're looking at 80 hours of tennis on Centre, that's the sort of maximum".

I watched some of the qualifier Kovacevic this weekend. He's a bit of a late-bloomer, due to having gone to college. Very aggressive game, and a lovely, lethal 1HBH, for those whose heads are turned by that sort of thing. One to watch. He's got a fun game.

I am not surprised!
Daniil Medvedev announces amicable split from Gilles Simon in his press conference in Rotterdam,
" It didnt work out exactly the way we wanted in terms of results. We remain good feelings but we're not working together anymore".
