Confirmed that Andy Murray has pulled out of the Olympic Singles tennis.
" I've taken the decision to withdraw from the singles to concentrate on the doubles with Dan.Really looking forward to getting started and representing GB one more time
Means his singles career is over ( source James Gray@jamesgraysport)

Not an easy draw for a change.
Oh well that could have been my Italian Sinners draw if he played :) his Wimbledon draw was difficult then he got sick in his match against Meddy usually a No 1 seed's draw is more favorable, it is what it is, remember it is only on paper, things can happen along the way in a draw

BTW Novak could have played Andy Murray in his first round singles match, seeing Murray decided to withdraw from singles, and just concentrate on doubles, Matt Ebden doubles specialist from Australia was the first alternative to take Murray's place

I know Djokovic and Nadal haven't been at their best this season, but the winner of that R2 match is going very deep in this tournament. I can just feel it.

I think all the pressure in the world will be on Djokovic in that match. Even if Nadal loses, he still has the singles gold in his pocket. If Djokovic loses, not only will he still have the hole on his resume of no singles gold medal, he will no longer have the career H2H advantage on Nadal.

The top half has it rougher. Terrible draw for Rafa/Novak, though worse for Rafa, who starts with Fuksovic.

BTW, did I see that Murray got in as a LL?

Not earning a "vanity OG Medal" isn't really a HOLE in Djokovic's resume as far as I'm concerned! I've always had a problem w/ millionaires playing in the Olympics; esp. athletes in tennis, basketball, baseball, & hockey! Other events have pros, but how much money is someone making as a swimmer, diver, track star, or bobsledder?:angry-face::astonished-face::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:
