There has been a lot of talk about players in Rome playing a hard court game on clay? that applies to a few players left in this tournament.

Tommy hit a beautiful clutch volley and was able to hold his serve. Hopefully he can break Hubie again. 5-3 Paul serving for the match.

That was some final game! Good for Tommy. When I wrote that there was an American still in the draw the other day, I meant Fritz. I'd failed to notice that Paul was still in, and he plays on!

3rdMP for Jarry who has really raised his game since the 1st set
Make that 4th MP, Stef is fighting hard to survive

Well that's a surprise. One of Jarry or Paul will be in the final, possibly against Tabilo. Zverev being the last "name" standing.

Consider:
Nicolas Jarry, age 28, highest rank #18, 3 ATP 250s
Tommy Paul, age 26, highest rank #12, 2 ATP 250s
Alejandro Tabilo, age 26, highest rank #32, 1 ATP 250

For comparison:
Alexander Zverev, age 27, highest rank #2, 21 titles including 8 big titles

I'm not sure we've had a Masters semi-finals like this--with only one top 10 guy, current or former, since the 90s, when the Masters were far more open and less dominated by the elite.
