I have a hard time imagining that Tabilo can keep his streak going v. Zverev. He hasn't dropped a set the whole tournament. But, even beyond that, if Zverev doesn't go all "blonde" and "pouty," he knows he's got the experience to win this. They've never played before. I hope Tabilo gets way ahead of him, and gets him grumpy. ¡Vamos, Alejandro!

Jarry v. Paul: H2H is 1-0 in favor of Jarry, who beat Paul in 4 last year at Roland Garros, R64. Give the edge to Jarry?

Could it be an all-Chilean final?

It seems like an important tournament for Zverev. He hasn't won a title all year, and no big title since 2021, his best year. This is about as easy a run to a big title as one could get, at least as far as rankings and past accomplishments from opponents. If he wins this, he'll only have beaten one guy with a single Master's and having been in the top 10 (Fritz) and quite a panoply of lower ranked players - none currently in the top 10: Vukic (70), Darderi (54), Borges, Fritz (13), Tabilo (32), Paul (16)/Jarry (24).

Or to put it another way, if he blows this, what kind of damage will that do to his fragile ego? And with the way that Tabilo, Paul, and Jarry have been playing, it is a significant chance of upset.

It's a VERY important tournament for Zverev, suddenly. Earlier on, he could have come away reasonably contented with a good showing and a SF or F. But now, he has a lot to lose. You rightly point out his fragile ego. This should be a gimme for him, at this point. And he has to sleep on it tonight, knowing this.

Tabilo, Jarry and Paul can all walk away feeling good about their Rome tournament, whatever happens tomorrow, or on Sunday. For Zverev, anything less than the trophy is a pretty bad loss, if you ask me. And he's not the type that bounces back well.

First career Masters 1000 SF for Jarry who can play on clay!
He will face Paul tomorrow
2 Chilean players in the last 4
Incredible!
This Clay Season!
I’ve been a fan of Jarry for the past few years. He’s been steadily improving and is a game competitor. This is a big tournament and he played through a lot of nerves in the first set. As you stated, he upped his game and took the match. Stef had 2 backhand winners and 12 errors. You cannot have such a glaring weakness and expect to win.

Well we all know Stefs bhand is a glaring weakness in his game and his opponents have the ability to expose it! to date Stef hasnt made the necessary steps or his coach his father to rectify his bhand

Tabilo breaks Zverev's 2nd service game, and has a tough time holding, but finally consolidates for 4-1.

Oh...and now he breaks Zed at love for 5-1 in half an hour. Goodall wonders if nerves at the opportunity are in Sasha's head...as we suggested might happen, above. He's been playing well all week, and not so well today, but I think Tabilo has something to do with that.

Wow...what a set of tennis from Alejandro Tabilo! I hope you saw that drop shot he won the set on. He's a smart player.

Tabilo had a good run making the SF at Rome, his serve reminds me of Nick K arms down together to start, he will now have a career high of #25

Zverev has a good opportunity to win Rome and if he does that he will pass Medvedev's ranking of No 4, he will then have his own quarter at RG

Happy Birthday to Tommy Paul who turns 27 today, his birthday present would be to win the SF he is presently playing against Jarry

Yep, just noting the statistic.

The main point of my post is how much Jarry has improved. He is becoming much steadier on the larger stages and is able to work through the nerviness. I like what I’ve seen from him over the last couple of years.

Consolidates his break in the 2nd. Tommy flailing a bit to stay in this match. Is it just me or does the yellow of his garb make him look like a tennis ball?
