They're filling time on TCC w/ Masters-1000 Finals! It's gonna be so strange to miss seeing the entire Big 3 finally cut out! If not for Novak's OG, it w/b a total shut-out! Much too strange! Wow! The elites of today can't keep the odd winner from taking a Big Event; (Popyrin an ex. in Canada back in August)! We truly have 2 Lost Gens. out there! Sascha still the best w/o a Major!:astonished-face::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::yawningface::anxious-face-with-sweat:

Novak Djokovic possible milestones in 2025:

1 title - 100th title and record-breaking 20th straight season with a title
4 titles - tie Roger Federer for 2nd all-time with 103 titles
5 titles - pass Roger Federer

The question is can Novak Djokovic come back in 2025?

I don't understand where there is a question that Novak Djokovic will come back next season? He's already announced Andy Murray to be assisting him as the newest and latest coach! BTW, saw some click--bait about Roddick making comment that making such a "to do" about this new hire, that it's taken away from Nadal's retirement! HUH? Nadal's been retiring all year! WTF? I guess A-Rod just needed to kvetch about something during this dead period! All we have left is the NG-YEC that few will watch! NOT ME! :angry-face::astonished-face::fearful-face::yawningface::anxious-face-with-sweat:

I don't think the question is WILL he be back, but can he come back, meaning win another Major, which, if that is the question, is a fair one. He's 37, and went all last year slamless. IF he doesn't win another Major, and he's not making beating the top players, I wonder how much longer he'll stick it out?

It will depend on how Djokovic looks going slamless. If he wins 4-5 titles and consistently makes the semis/finals of slams, then there's nothing really to worry about. But if he has another 0-1 title year and is losing in the earlier rounds of slams, then it's time to be concerned.

That said, I think Djokovic will cut back on the smaller tournaments, and focus on the slams and other important events (such as the inaugural Saudi Masters and possibly the 2028 Olympics, which Djokovic is adamant on defending his gold medal). I think Djokovic will play until 2028, and outlast Roger Federer (who played his last match at age 39 at Wimbledon in 2021).

I think you and I both agree that the AO in 2025 will be a 'key indicator' as to where Novak's level is? I dont think hiring Andy Murray will be a factor, I did read he will play a lead up tournament before the AO in 2025.
I think the majors will be his main focus in 2025 and if if he dosent win a major like in 2024, and not beating the top players, he may consider retirement?

Then again, the last time Novak had this bad of a year was 2017, and he followed it up with a poor showing during the first half of the season in 2018, most notably at the AO and FO. Then, he won Wimbledon, and was unstoppable for the next 6 months, all the way through AO 2019. I need to see another full year of Novak not playing well for me to be totally convinced this is different.

I think we have to 'factor in' his age of 37 for starters, he will be turning 38 in May 2025, this year he had injury problems and surgery on his knee, winning the singles gold medal at the Olympics, was his priority in 2024..To me AO will be a indicator on his playing level and how much motivation he has left for the game.

Novak's problems extend beyond his age and level, namely Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Sinner has won their last three matches, and four of five - all on hard courts. Novak did beat Carlos at the Olympics on clay, but let's be honest: Carlos was exhausted. Alcaraz has beaten him in two Wimbledon finals in a row, the last one in straight sets.

I still think Novak is the third most likely player to win a Slam in 2025, but there's a significant gap between him and Sincaraz. To make things worse for Novak, the young guys may still be improving, while Novak is only getting older.

How can Fils still qualify for this thing. He's by far the most accomplished player of the bunch.

I don't understand! What am I missing? He's still 20! Is this about status or winning % in comparison to other under 21'rs? Zverev qualified for both the YEC & YEC-Next Gen. way back when! (Just came to mind) I''m anxious to ssee how 2025 begins!:exploding-head::astonished-face::yawningface:

According to the rules Fils turned 20 in June this year, and he still qualifies to play in the Next Gen Finals ( he wont be able to in 2025 :)
