Cilic showed what a player he used to be this week. Hope he can build on this and stay injury free.

I like Shang, watched him couple of times. Nice left hand and good tennis IQ. He is a bit on a shorter side, not the typical new player 190cm or taller. I think he and Mahac are the only "shorter" players from all upcoming young guys. There is Van Asche too, but he is not progressing..
Don,
Musetti played well till he got to the final, 1st set was tight and then Shang was too good, in the 2nd set and deserved his win, Musetti has now lost all the 5 finals he has played so far in 2024 :)

WADA has lodged an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for sport regarding Jannik Sinner's doping case. I have put further details of the appeal on the General Doping/ Ped Discussion Post.

Samurai had MP and chances to close out the Danish Angel, but lil Holger played the gamesmanship card and called an MTO after donating his serve to kill Kei's momentum. That's a yellow card for the Dane. :negative:
You get to MP you can close it out, if you don’t, I’m sorry that is on you. It’s one more single point.

You know it AND your opponent knows it. There is pressure on both sides at MP.

Tell that to the Federer sycophants who say he was "past it" in his '19 Wimb. final vs Novak! He had 2 MP's & blew it! Djoker had steady nerves! :-)2

Don't try to defend your boy. He was wrong for that and you know it. Nonetheless, I see the French phenom sent him to Shanghai early.

I don't understand what happened. I see the 3rd set went 7-5 to Rune, so presumably Kei had MP when serving for the match at 5-4? When was the MTO? When did the momentum killing happen?

He was past his prime, and he still got to those two MP's. He let his nerves get the best of him. Yes, nobody has the nerves Djokovic has (plus he rolls the dice when his down match points), but if people can't see how fucking high Federer's level can get, well, that's on them

China had "some" draw, but lost their 4th Seed, Rublev! Alcaraz vs Medvedev should be good! We can always hope, but The Fall produces strange results going back decades! Even Nadal couldn't overcome his shortcomings to take a Shanghai, Paris Indoor, or YEC Champ.! :astonished-face::yawningface::face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy:

Moxie,

I watched the match between Fils v Rune actually one of the better matches Rune has played all year, even though he lost, some great rallies between both players, Fils weathered the storm and won in 2 tight TB sets, Lets see how he fares against his fellow countryman in Humbert in the final.

I see Novak's supposed to come back to play in Shanghai this week! Color me shocked! Not sure how sharp he'll be, but if he does well, the tour will take a severe hit as he's only played part-time so far, barely holding onto his ranking in the top 10! Taking that OGM has saved his season! :astonished-face::yawningface:

Alcaraz d Medvedev 75 63 too good, to reach the final at Beijing for the first time
10-3 vs Top Ten in 2024
Alcaraz claimed his 3rd victory in a row this year against Medvedev to reach his 5th final in 2024.
Extends his H2H over Medvedev 6-2, 3-0 in 2024.

Fils defeated Humbert 5-7, 7-6(6), 6-3 for his 3rd career title and 2nd this season. I wonder if he can take the next step by producing more consistent results and contending at the slams in 2025.
