This is the kind of thing I hope Carlos gets more savvy about. I love his swagger but I hope it’s not naïveté makes him say about this years Wimbledon, “I can see myself lifting the trophy.”

It’s a high wire act making claims like that. And of course, the media love it. There’s the headline that’ll follow him around SW19. Hopefully he stays calm and hits the heights, but he felt reality bite him bad in Paris. He’s young though, and swiftly learning.

Maybe we should start a list for players that posters think can cause ' danger' at Wimbledon this year

I will start with Bublik, Griekspoor, Seb Korda ( no he wont win Wimbledon this year lol )
Yes, this is what I've been looking for. Who's good on the grass? Who's looking dangerous right now? More in the sense of spoiling or making a surprising deep run...I just don't think there is a "dark horse" to win it.

If its not Stan on Daniil, Novak's level of concern is at the level of a house fly on the ass of a Mammoth Elephant! These player's aren't willing to die to defeat him but I think Holger Rune can be that player but does not have the grass court experience. ( this is why when I make a list the all time grass court players I always say that the GREAT Bjorn Borg, McEnroe, Becker and Sampras had the tennis IQ to rapidly transfer their games from the other surfaces to the grass at a very early stage in their careers).

Well those great grass court players you listed were amazing on grass, though that is in the past
I was only starting a list of danger players we have in 'the present' as I posted before if Novak is going to get defeated, it has to be in the early rounds, before he finds his rhythm, he came into RG with little form and played himself to form and won.

Don't be distracted .. Novak doesn't have to be in top form to defeat anyone the first week unless its Stan's BH that can hit through him.

The unpopular opinion but also the objective reality is that the men’s game is now weaker than when Roger was rolling his contemporaries into the gutter. Like Roger, Novak has a young developing player as a distant threat, and that’s that. Novak is a great player and he’ll make hay while the sun shines. He’s been doing that for a while now, winning big titles unopposed.

It’ll be interesting to see how the young players get on, but the Medvedev Tsitsipas generation haven’t matured into becoming a serious opposition..

I will add Mannarino he can be a danger on grass, underated at times

This news dosent bode well for FAA,
FAA appears to have injured his knee again in an exhibition match against Schwartzman, which ended a few minutes ago, dosen't bode well so close to Friday's draw for Wimbledon

There are those clay court players, like Jarry, whose game readily adjusts to grass. Then there are those, like Davidovich Fokina, who do not.
Also, Jarry is "trending," so he's a good pick for dangerous to run into.

Agreed..give him the trophy and let's enjoy our American Summer!
I still think there might be an Uncle Sam out there to upset Novak early. Querrey was the right guy at the right moment, and yes, Novak had reasons to be vulnerable, but that was 7 years ago, and Novak has reasons to feel pressure this year. CYGS on the line again. Windows closing. That's why we watch the matches...you never know.

Grigor's claimed to fame will be the female WTA players who will be HOFs he sired and the gorgeous pussy cat Gal ..

I hope he's better looking in person! Grigor's ok, but he's nowhere near as stunning a beauty as someone like Rune or even A.D. Fokina! Looks as if he got to the top of the fan ranks by his "Federer stylings" and being a victim of child molestation by old ladies on the WTA Tour! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :face-with-tears-of-joy::fearful-face:

He's following in the footsteps of Nadal so I guess he figures, :"I gotta be full of myself early too!" All that talent, but might burn out early! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :face-with-tears-of-joy:

This is what gets me about FAA.. he has so many Sampras like weapons that he shouldn't need an tune up.

I know a lot of Us old heads like El Dude , Kieran and myself keep bringing up Sampras as if he was a tennis God but it's the TRUTH .

When Sampras won his last Wimbledon I think Margaret has mentioned that fortnight but Sampras had painful shine splints so severe he had to get pain injections the day he was going to play. He won the tournament really without being able to PRACTICE. That's a Tennis God and a real GOAT.

FAA of late has had a few injury concerns, first his shoulder and his knee, he has withdrawn from tournaments of late, he was probably playing this exhibition to gauge his fitness level, shame this has happened.
BTW just saw a photo of FAA playing against Rublev ( in the Boodles expo) with taping on his left knee, so the concern from yesterday not as bad as it looked., hopefully.
