She'll be 41 in September. Last Wimbledon quite possibly for Feliciano Lopez as well as Serena Williams although, if she tries to get fitter, we might see Serena next year for one last try.

It's been a yr. since her last competitive match! Who expected any different? Even if she made it past this lit'l girl, her future didn't look bright! Serena's no kid & no Martina Navratilova either! Thinking she could just show up and win this tournament was a joke and a hoax perpetrated on the tour! I just don't understand coming back again even if to redeem her performance and injury last year! :shushing-face: :pleading-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy:
A bit harsh but one poster on a live stream link posted get your ass back to KFC after she lost! Lost a load of cash no doubt!

Just a little reminder of how great a tennis player Serena is and how great 1GA will be. This stats is for a season and we're only half way through 2022.
Another fun fact - 1 - After 420 Grand Slam matches, Serena Williams played her first tie-break in the third set in a Major encounter.

Serena did say she has the motivation to do better and will probably play at her home GS, meaning the USO, in saying that Serena cannot walk into a GS event at age 40 and expect to do well, she has to play a warm up tournament at least before any Grand Slam
BTW Serena always keeps her cards close to her chest and you really never know if she will play a tournament or not.

Niemeier just beat the No. 2 seed, Kontaveit, 6-4, 6-0
I actually thought Anett would withdraw from Wimbledon, she had been suffering from the effects of COVID, maybe the reason why she played poorly today, also grass is not her forte either.

Oh well Serena has not entered the mixed doubles the entry list has just come out
Also Harmony Tan has withdrawn from the doubles citing a thigh injury, after her match with Serena yesterday

Emma and Caroline warming up on CC
Very windy conditions now, interested to see which player handles these conditions
Caroline won a grass tournament at Bad Homburg last week

Caroline gets the early break, she is a good returner also a very good doubles player, good on grass as well, her main downfall is her lack of focus and mental ability, she has a great game, though to me has never reached her full potential, coached by her father for many years, who I felt could not take her to the next level, recently hired a new coach.
Well done to Emma she breaks Caroline whose volley found the net and back on serve.
