Tan is going to lose to Sorribes Tormo. This match was winable and she couldn't finish.
Closing time is dreadfully underrated as players get older. Look how many times the greats have lost some winnable matches when they were serving for it, had MP, etc.

I don’t think it is the end of the road I saw a lot of positives to take from the match. She didn’t come into this with any sort of rhythm. She can’t do that she has to play some matches even if they are smaller tournaments to work her nerves out and get rhythm on her serve, return, and ground game.
Do you know what (if any) plans she’s made for between now and the US Open?

she keeps everything close to the vest now w/ Patrick out of the pic. I don't know what she will do. I hope she plays Rogers or Cinci and actually makes the commitment to play and announce it early enough to drive ticket sales for the event.

It really doesn't matter Tented. If she doesn't make a commitment her results will be even worse. Her game was neutralize because she could hit her first serve and the change of pace bothered her. You have to play tournament matches to be tournament tough. It's a pipe dream otherwise. Serena blew a huge opportunity knowing THIS was a decimated field without the Russians and others yet she thinks she is Kevin Durant. "Y'all know who the "F" IAM "

I would not be surprised if Serena stays around for Wimbledon and plays mixed doubles like Venus
Anyway we shall see, the mixed doubles is still open at present, though she cant afford to dilly dally.

I think we would be talking a different story if Serena had played a challenger or two and a 250 and gotten some good match play under her wing. Most of what she needed was there. It’s just those pressure moments got to her.

Going forward, she has to shorten the points. I don’t know if that means focusing on her serving and returning getting those laser sharp or what she has to do to shorten them, but she has to figure something out.

I was saying that all match, Serena had to shorten the points, once the rally went longer Tan usually won them

She has to swallow her pride and play a challenger or 250. Her ranking is in the 1000s now. Agassi played challengers when he came back and he did make it all the way back to competing for slams.

Serena playing challengers, she can at least get match fit and find her rhythm more. It is a good idea, if she is serious still about tennis

You could see how much it means to her when she was winning some of those outrageous points. Does she desire it enough at 40 to put away the old way of doing things (just showing up thinking you can work your way into a slam) and actually prepares properly? We'll see, no?

I actually think Darren Cahill would be a good person for Serena to reach out to to at least help her tactically going forward.

He is taken....He has enough to do with my young Italian Sinner, though Cahill would have been great for Serena

I befriend the damage shoe strings poster before Serena would EVER play a Challenger event.

He could still work w/ her tactically especially at the slams and combined events until she hangs it up.
