Rafa has to be seeded#2 if he participates.

I might be wrong but I thought I said simply that Novak could roll out of bed to make it to the qtrs. But I am saying that Novak will make it too the finals if he doesn't faces Nadal. You have to check the post.
That is your opinion on Novak, though I am still not convinced.,unless he shows up 'mentally' at Wimbledon and produce more consistent play,I beg to differ., things have to go his way, he cannot blame crowds etc, like he did at the French, not applauding him more etc.

I haven't seen the statement but I don't give too much credence in what Goran said. Novak knows that if he was in Hades , he couldn't get along with Lucifer. Yet. It's true he wants to be loved but he is a narcissist and is an asisine jerk.

What Goran said is in black and white, through a interview he did with Tennis Majors
Anyway I am over talking about Novak, there are warm up grass tournaments to be played.
I am also interested to see how my Italian and 'eye candy' Matteo goes after his long lay off due to his hand surgery at least Kskate will be happy as well..

Novak would have won RG if he doesn't face Rafa. It's as simple as that. Name one player who could stop him now that Thiem's confidence is somewhere in the bottom of the Baltic Sea Only Rafa could stop Novak's game. Tsitipas played great last year but had no answers when Novak took control of the center of the court with his backhand. Stef needed to come up with something to neutralize Novak's drop shots and BH DTL and CC BH. Novak during the 3,4 and 5 set rolled his FH CC to Tsitipas FH to pull him off the court and made the match to uncomfortable. I remember the entire match like a 5 hour movie. Alverez would not been able to defeat Novak 3 or 5 sets. He just doesn't have the experience yet. Only Stan and Thiem BH could hit through Novak's defense in previous encounters at RG. I hope this helps.
I don’t know about that. Novak has seen some random knock offs by players that are head scratchers more so than Rafa or Roger ever seemed to have.

I cannot wait to see AP's reaction to this quote regarding grass preparation,

"I believe that grass is a thing for golfers, so I have a quite particular preparation for Wimbledon, I prefer to play golf before the tournament rather than tennis, I have a better preparation"
Casper Ruud.

Lest we get ahead of ourselves, this from Wertheim:

"Yet, right now, I would buy Djokovic on the dip. Like, load up on Djokovic. After dusting off the rust—or the clay-court tennis equivalent—he suddenly went back to playing celestial tennis. He won Rome and his first four matches here without dropping a set. Losing to 13-time French Open winner Nadal on clay—winning a set he should have lost and losing a set he should have won—is no shame. His timing is back. His conditioning appears to be back. He has “only” just turned 35. Look at the Wimbledon draws over the past decade and you will not find a more successful player. Then come the hard courts. Bear in mind the man who beat Djokovic in 2021, Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, will have been banned from Wimbledon and contend with his own “reentering the workforce” issues.

Djokovic will be fine."
Not exactly the opposite opinion, but rather a more cautionary note, and related to opinions here, up-thread. From Jimmy Arias:

https://www.tennisworldusa.org/tenn...jokovic-is-cracking-a-little-bit-says-expert/

He's talking about the evident pressure we've seen from Djokovic, directly related to the Slam race.

That seems a fine enough way to deflect expectations for his grass season from a clay courter. I doubt anyone believes it.

Thank you for the article, Moxie!

Jimmy Arias gets it. Novak Djokovic is a great player and he will probably win more slam(s) even with the tournament restrictions. But, to say he just *only* turned 35 years old and relatively injury free = 3 or 4 plus slams easily is a little bit farfetched.

With Alcaraz withdrawing from Queens, the biggest question now going into Wimbledon is whether or not Nadal will play.

If Nadal does play, the Top 9 seedings are follow:

1. Djokovic
2. Nadal
3.Ruud or Tsitsipas
4. Tsitsipas or Ruud
5. Alcaraz (locked)
6. FAA (locked)
7. Norrie
8. Matteo
9. Hurkacz

3 or 4 is still TBD depending on what Tsitsipas do this week and next week.

Then 7, 8, 9 are also interchangeable and will be based these next two weeks.

The good thing about being seed 9th is that you don’t have to face the Top 4 seeds in the 4R.

At least you don’t have to engage in that mathematical jujitsu Wimbledon used to use to determine seeds.

Watching a pretty entertaining match between Simon and Medvedev. Simon was up 5-2 in the first, with Meddie full of rust, but he's been finding his grass game, and won the first 7-5, and now up 5-3 in the second. Such a shame he won't be playing Wimbledon.

IS there a chance that Wimbledon will change their stance.. McEnroe feels that they may.

It's getting pretty late to do a 180 on it. They've been holding this stance for a long time. What would have changed to offer them an out? Otherwise, they just have to say they were wrong. I don't see that happening.

I don’t think they are going to change their stance. If anything, I think they announced larger prize money and Middle Sunday Play probably to offset that talk.

I also think it would probably infuriate lower ranked players from those countries as they probably have to budget their travel in an attempt to participate, and last minute travel to potentially qualify or participate would be difficult.

Goran Ivanisevic. told Serbian publication Sportklub, that Novak is ready to move on from his defeat in his q/final match at RG loss to Rafa Nadal.Novak plans to travel to London to train on the grass.Novak will probably not have a warm up tournament, Goran said, we will see more, but now is the time to recover mentally.
