No no . I clearly said it doesn't mean he is the best tennis player. Tennis is a physical and mental game. When you facing the top players, it's more mental that wins the matches, tournament and grand slam championships. It's a chess, checkers, poker or whatever game where you have to have great counters to your opponents move. Remember, I always say that all things being the same meaning everyone is healthy or not Jaded , it will always come down to Roger, Rafa and Novak. There are the tennis Masters. Next time you get to watch these live , look at how they hit a ball, get back to the recovery point and change the speed of the ball. There was a point years ago between Borg and Vilas where the hit the ball 60 times during one rally. Acourse, they were not blasting the ball like today's players. Roger , Novak and Rafa if they hit with less than 3/4 speed especially on a clay court could easily exceed Borg and Vilas rally ball count. Medvedev has this ability to hit as well as the big three but is not quite there. Daniil's mental game is still in development or it may have plateaued already. Miss Margaret, remove your emotions and just re-read what I posted. ( No disrespect) . This is why I have stated there's higher levels to the big 3's game. On clay, Rafa has a higher level than Novak or Roger could EVER achieve. Check the stats, I think I am pretty accurate with the latter statement.
Please I am not being emotional I am stating the facts as they are today....regardless of the surface Novak is not the player he used to be, he has chosen not to be vaccinated, that is his choice, though that has cost him in 2022. he is limited to the tournaments he can play, he has turned 35 years of age, granted he has no injuries, to contend with, still he cannot expect to show up a major and expect to win.
BTW just because I am a female it really annoys me that we are called 'emotional' I could use another word than annoy.,I am trying to be polite here.

Well if he is that good what the hell happened to him at RG where he was the defending champion and had a dream draw?
He mentally went away apart from the 2nd set and his body language was terrible in his q/final match against Rafa
Tennis today is 80% mental...which are present he has Not Got.No he cannot fall out of bed and win Wimbledon, he could not do that at RG.
I know Borg used to hire a tennis court at Wimbledon and practice for hours before Wimbledon, though Novak is not in his league he has not won RG and Wimbledon., many times, like Borg did, my idol, who turned 66 the other day.
Novak would have won RG if he doesn't face Rafa. It's as simple as that. Name one player who could stop him now that Thiem's confidence is somewhere in the bottom of the Baltic Sea Only Rafa could stop Novak's game. Tsitipas played great last year but had no answers when Novak took control of the center of the court with his backhand. Stef needed to come up with something to neutralize Novak's drop shots and BH DTL and CC BH. Novak during the 3,4 and 5 set rolled his FH CC to Tsitipas FH to pull him off the court and made the match to uncomfortable. I remember the entire match like a 5 hour movie. Alverez would not been able to defeat Novak 3 or 5 sets. He just doesn't have the experience yet. Only Stan and Thiem BH could hit through Novak's defense in previous encounters at RG. I hope this helps.

Margaret I wasn't being sexist. I have too much respect for you. I won't say anything else because We both are still enjoying Nadal's fantastic accomplishments. Maybe Lord Kieran may add his thoughts which seem to be a bit better tasting medicine than mine.

If you think Novak is still that strong a player that is okay with me,

You are blaming Novak for not playing better but just not accepting he faced a man who defeated FAA ( a day and half earlier)who played his best tennis ever, 3 UFEs in the 5 set but lost to Rafa who had 4 UFES with 15 winners. That's was as good as a person could play a set of clay court tennis. That's at the insane level. There's no shame for Novak loosing to Nadal. Rafa took it to a height where (go check what I posted on Sunday).

You won't accept that Rafa played his A game to defeat Novak. Go back and watch the match. Look at Novak's stats. I doubt his UFES was ever higher than 15 during any set. If Novak had over 60 UFEs than he played not good.

You then cannot accept Novak is not the player he used to be.....? as I said he took Rafa off the court last year in his s/final at RG
You state that Novak can roll out of bed and win Wimbledon this year? really I beg to differ

Rafa was injured during that match, remember the foot flared up. Nadal didn't play Wimbledon and could barely play in DC late July before he ended his season to have a four procedure Come on Margaret, you are looking for something but there is nothing there.

Let's be clear, if Novak reaches the Final than I am correct as long as he doesn't faces Nadal. Otherwise, if not Nadal, Novak will win Wimbledon regardless whomever the Non Rafa opponent is

Absolutely, if on separate halves of the draw if Rafa is able to participate, I will pick Novak to make the final. I wouldn't be surprised with any Russians players , Novak will be a 2-1 favorite if it higher.

Well Rafa has only had his first new treatment, so we cannot get ahead of ourselves, it also depends on the draw, I hope this time it is not too lopsided like the French, though as Rafanoy reminded me it could be with some of the players missing.

Margaret, I sat in the box seats behind Novak chair in Cincinnati 2019 vs Daniil. I had those load ass obnoxious but actually cool guys Serbians sitting a few rows back. I saw Daniil's tennis game throw everything at Novak but he couldn't get ball passed him. Daniil sat down and decided to serve nothing but flat hard serves bombs which finally wore down Novak. NEXT, he ran down every BH and begin ripping his FH. He won the final set and was totally shocked he did Remember that was the Summer after Wimbledon Daniil only lost to Nick in DC and Rafa at the Roger's cup and USO.

Rafa has to be seeded#2 if he participates.

I might be wrong but I thought I said simply that Novak could roll out of bed to make it to the qtrs. But I am saying that Novak will make it too the finals if he doesn't faces Nadal. You have to check the post.
