The Citi Open is matching Andy Murray's prize donation to Ukraine aid efforts this week. Murray, who has been donating his prize money this season to humanitarian support in Ukaraine, spoke of the need to keep the fading issue at the forefront.

With this win, Carlos Alcaraz will reach a career high ranking of 4th in the world this Monday. So, unless Tsitsipas go on a crazy run at both Canada and Cincy, Alcaraz will be more than likely be a Top 4 seed at the US Open.

The question now will be will he overtake Nadal in the rankings before the US Open starts?

Well not the way he played today he wont overtake Nadal in the rankings before the USO, it was a tight match before the ankle incident, the qualifer Zeppieri played well before he started cramping

True, but Alcaraz is extremely talented and mentally tough in which he could go deep in both Canada and Cincy (just like he did at IW and Miami). However, these will be all moot if Nadal reaches Canada Final or wins the tournament.

I am not saying he is not talented, this match is on clay for starters, lets see what happens on the HC, Rafa has an excellent record on the HC in Canada for starters, and only needs one more title win to tie with Lendl who holds the record at 6 titles.
Alcaraz will be ranked No 4 when the updated rankings come out from Monday

Sinner up a break now in the 2nd set. Let's see if he can close this out in straight sets.

Sinner d Agamenone 61 63

Final in Umag Alcaraz defending champion vs Sinner. First final on clay for Sinner, Alcaraz leads H2H 2-1, though Jannik defeated him on grass at Wimbledon a few weeks ago.
( hoping Alcaraz ankle will be okay).....though I have to cheer for my Italian :)

Yeah, not a great match. Agamenone's thigh was impacting him a bit. I had him winning a set there but he came well short. Played some poor drop shots when he should have just hit crosscourt and waited for his chances. Guess his movement meant he didn't want to run as much. Brilliant week for him all the same and Zeppieri. Both of their games should translate well to hard court so hope to see more from them if they get their rankings up.

Alcaraz vs. Sinner on Clay should be an amazing, even match. On Clay, it is pretty much even for these two players because most of the points will be dictated by which player can execute their plans from the baseline rallies better. While Alcaraz has more of the firepower and variety shots than Sinner, Clay will neutralize some of those firepower and if Alcaraz does not execute his dropshots well, then Sinner will able to reach those dropshots. With that being said, Alcaraz is still a great young player, so he will be tough to beat even on Clay.

As for Sinner, interestingly enough, this is his 1st ATP Tour on final on Clay. He was unlucky in the past year or so in facing Nadal (3x), Djokovic, Tsitsipas, Zverev on Clay before the final. In addition, with his injury problems this year, this probably a good feeling for him to reach the final for the 1st time this year. I am curious to see on what Sinner's team will come up in terms of strategy. It will definitely be different due to the surface, but in addition, Alcaraz will definitely play better and differently.

Well I am cheering for my Italian , Sinner, he is such a well balanced athlete, probably due more to his great skiing results as a junior, which also gives him good weight distribution, on both wings, he is also a good returner, though on clay I will give Alcaraz a advantage, hoping his ankle is okay., I liked the way Sinner defeated Alcaraz at Wimbledon on grass which was a first for him, seeing grass is not a surface in the past he has had any good results on.

Alcaraz just has a higher ceiling than Sinner plus he is more athletic than Sinner. But Clay will give Sinner a better chance to beat Alcaraz than on HC.

Who said that I am rooting for Alcaraz? I am a Sinner fan first before Alcaraz. But, I do recognize Alcaraz’s potential greatness so that’s why I am stating Alcaraz strengths and weaknesses.

But, I am definitely more interested in Sinner’s career than Alcaraz at this point.

Well that is the way you come across, I am also a big fan of Alcaraz, I am Italian of course I will be cheering for Sinner
You know Italians have had not much to cheer about, we finally have some talented youngsters coming through
Like last year when Matteo got into a Wimbledon final, a first for Italians, even though he lost, it was a great achievement.

At this point of their careers, Alcaraz has accomplished more than Sinner, so it easier to talk about Alcaraz than Sinner. But, even before Alcaraz’s rise superstar status, I got interested at Sinner’s career. There’s something about him that is fascinating, not just his game but his demeanor on the court.
