Novak has been banned for 3 years, regardless if we have lifted our vaccination requirements of entry, Novak was deported, he still has to give our Immigration officials, most importantly our Immigration Minister, why he should be given a new visa, so Novak's hopes for next year at the AO is no guarantee.Australia lifts vaccine requirement to entry, lifting Novak's hopes for next year.

I would not bet on it....he was deported from our country, he has to submit a very good reason why our Immigration Minister should give him a new visa, he left our country not in a good light, and surrounded by controversy, people here were glad to see him deported. This is good news for Novak, there is a chance now to play AO 23.
I know. Qantas our Australian national carrier will not allow anyone on their flights outward bound or inward bound to Australia without a COVID vaccine passport.Novak has been banned for 3 years, regardless if we have lifted our vaccination requirements of entry, Novak was deported, he still has to give our Immigration officials, most importantly our Immigration Minister, why he should be given a new visa, so Novak's hopes for next year at the AO is no guarantee.
TBH, I think there has always been the notion of a chance, because his ban can get waived. This does add extra reason to waive it. But I take @MargaretMcAleer's point above, which is that he wasn't deported, in the end, for not being vaccinated, but for being a threat to health and good order in Australia, because of his position. There is also the fact that there was a false statement on his visa paperwork. And Margaret just posted that Qantas still requires vaccination, which means the conversation for Australians is far from over. There is also the court of public sentiment, which politicians will care about. Giving Novak a let-off from a 3-year ban, given all of the above, is not likely to be that popular in Australia, unless a lot of things change in the next 5 months. Maybe Margaret and @Chris Koziarz and anyone else in Oz can tell me if I'm wrong on that, or give us a clearer bead. This is good news for Novak, there is a chance now to play AO 23.
After Wimbledon and the dropping of his 2000 championship points Novak will be 7th in the computer rankings , with 4770 points. Losing USO SF will bring him down to 3570 points , still good for 9th place. At best if he can defend other points, what with Zverev injured Novak could conceivably still be seeded top 8 in Oz if they allow him to play there. At worst he could be seeded between 12 and 16 at Oz. However to start 2023 his points won't have dipped so down that he would not be seeded in most tournaments. As I said a few wks, Novak's ranking will continue to plummet, then next season he w/b the most dangerous WC/Floater in history of tennis!

Fiero, that's a tough one to call. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Novak wins Wimbledon doesn't that give him an automatic entry into the YEC at Turin? What make things more difficult it that there is no China swing, I"m assuming he can't play the Cincinatti and Canada Masters in the fall, where Novak could have possibly picked up some points. Now regarding defending Paris Masters, I would hope not losing yet another 1000 points would be motivation enough. So you think he might still have a chance to make the YEC in November? I wasn't sure thinking without defending USO points and probably not motivated enough to win Paris Indoor again, I thought Novak might drop out of sight in the rankings! I really haven't looked at it that closely!
