Big time but just not sure what to expect. There are so many players now who would beat him easily even if he's fully fit as you can't stop father time unfortunately. He'll need to use SABR, body serves, ultra aggression and probably grenades to stand at chance at 41 when he comes back :D
He’ll do everything. I think he’ll SABR, he’ll serve-volley, he’ll rely on old tricks that are brand new to a lot of the young folk on tour.

Difficulties for him will include his age, and recovery from injuries, both fairly obviously, but although his name will mean a lot to many players, he’s going to face young blood that weren’t born when he won his first tournaments, and were babies when he won his first slam. These lads will think of him as a cute notch on the bedpost, but they won’t fear him. But he’ll be game. It’ll be great to watch!

What’s the most we can expect from him?

South Africa's Lloyd Harris will miss the rest of the 2022 season due to a right wrist injury.
"I have been struggling with severe pain over the last couple of months which has not allowed me to be near my best, so surgery was my best and only option. I am confident that I will return healthy, motivated and eager to achieve my goals".

If you think he is gonna use the SABR against these players at the top of the tour... well Fronty .. I have some land in beautiful South Florida I can sell you at a very discounted price.
If it worked against the huge serving Kevin Anderson it can work against others, 2nd serves obviously. He was a good bit younger then too and before all these surgeries so it's unlikely unless he returns moving great but how fit and fast can a 41 year old be at professional tennis really.

That’s right. SABR is all about timing, and if he still has that, then players face a missile return, their own power used against them, lucky if they get a defensive reply out, very unlucky then if Roger is at the net already, popping it away.

But will he still be as sharp as he was 5 years ago? That’s going to be part of the beauty of seeing him again - and I never even liked him! But I’m glad he’s coming back…

It’s never a question of losing a step, or even half a step, it’s losing a quarter of a step that is all the difference in the world at that rarified level of ATP tennis. It’s clear that Rafa and Novak are not the respective speedsters they were now ages 36 & 35 but they haven’t slowed down that badly yet.

Federer was always underrated IMO with his stutter step positioning, he was always good at pivoting and getting in position so he was always balanced, so his fans oohing and ahhing over his shots didn’t realize it was his movement positioning that was the key, not so much the stroke. If you’re in position and in balance an “ugly” stroke will do as well as a pretty stroke.

I don’t doubt that Federer’s strokes are as pristine as ever, he can probably hit his FH at age 75. With tennis it’s maintaining your balance and court position on the neutral rallies until you can attack. That at age 41 when he comes back. I’m curious to see with Federer, can he hold his own movement wise point in and point out.

I feel like I'm in the fk'n Twilight Zone seeing posts like this! I think inevitably Federer is just going to embarrass himself! His last outing at Wimbledon wasn't impressive, barely surviving lesser players early before Hurkacz eviscerating him in the QF! Are people delusional or just being facecious and silly? :astonished-face: :fearful-face: :shushing-face::face-vomiting::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Quarter final at Wimbledon? That wasn’t so bad for a 39 year old. It’s hardly embarrassing..

You don't remember the dream draw @ #6? Fed should have been gone in the 1st Rd. but for Mannarino getting hurt allowing Roger to advance!
I don’t remember! But even still, give the man his dues, getting to the quarters was still a thing, for a 39 year old recently returned to play. This time he’s older but he’s got a lot space before he plays a slam…

I think Nadal will be a great dad. His days on tour might be coming to an end soon.

It makes me wonder how many tennis players have had the police called on them while practicing. Also a fun game would probably be was the law called for tennis practice or because actual sex was happening .
You know I never thought Dominic was that noisy on court? I can think of other players that make more noise than him, maybe Dominic makes more noise while practicing.I guess we will never really know if other players have had the police call on them while practicing, this incident for me was a first.

I mean I figured the first I would have heard of it was on the women’s side from either Sharapova, Azarenka, or Errani .
