Also the younger you are the more chance you have of cartilage regenerating.
These updates on Roger's Knees medical condition really is the final indicator the end is very near.. I think Roger may be able to play in a #250 or #500 series tournament but not a master's series or definitely a GS tournament. The talent will ALWAYS be there because it's a gift from the tennis God's blessings. Skipping AO is very alarming but Wimbledon is concerning because it's his best opportunity to remain competitive against the top 20. The mind is willing but the body isn't capable. I hope I'm wrong.

Someone mentioned WTT recently..I saw DYjr stats.. Zero titles in singles and doubles. That's is almost astonishing since he turned pro in 2004. Has that EVER happened before to another ATP pro who was once ranked inside the top 40.

I will be surprised if Roger returns to tennis next year, this is the 3rd operation on his knee, this process of regenerating cartilage takes time.Anyway we shall see.

You're kidding right? Roger barely survived his early round matches against nobodies! Mannarino might have beaten him but for his injury! :lol6: :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

You're too eager and quick to poor dirt on poor Roger's career

It's fk'n well overdue IMO! I won't miss him! It's time for the NG'rs to take over; it's been time! Oldies but goodies are just sucking up all the oxygen even when not playing! Novak's the only one really accomplishing anything while Fedalray are just taking up space in the news & ATP draws with WC's and over-inflated rankings! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:  :astonished-face: :anxious-face-with-sweat::face-with-tears-of-joy:

Actually, his 4th knee operation. This is an article from the NYTimes that's a little more detailed than most of what I've read, and it says what you say, Margaret, that that cartiledge/meniscus procedure takes time to heal from. It says that he'll probably start practicing tennis again in March or April. (I realize that article maybe behind a pay wall, so I'm summarizing a bit.) He also doesn't really think that 40 or 41 makes much of a difference, but the IF he can come back and compete on his terms. It is sounding a bit harsh, but if anyone can give it one more go, I'm sure Roger will.

I thought it was his 3rd surgery on that knee he had the cartiledge procedure? didn't have a procedure also on the other knee at some stage

Well, the Fed wanted closure so bad on Wimby, but Djoker denies him. What a career would be with that win, but do you remember that Fed finger on RG ?! He paid the price.

p.S. Djoker should also keep to stay out of injuries. I think he did best with just those 13 tours this year. See Young Greek 25 tours... they went a bit far. Injury become to quick, compared to years.

The Next Geners have only themselves to blame. They’ve had years to prove themselves, and have failed to become more dominant than the Big Three. You can’t blame the “oldies but goodies” for succeeding, thus making headlines — they’ve been doing exactly what the Next Geners should have been doing for ages. We’re finally seeing some success with the Next Next Geners, such as Medvedev, Zverev, and Tsitsipas, but let’s face it: they’re succeeding during a time when the Big Three are waning.

Yep, that "finger wag" was so memorable; sorta like that woman who signaled "1 point" @ Wimbledon in 2019! It's all Karma for the Faux GOAT! :lol6:

I dont know if they should abandon the DC Cup now altogether, after the powers that be changed the format, most fans, including myself have lost interest.I remember attending a DC tie in Australia, the Swiss,Roger Federer playing at Rose Bay in Sydney, the atmosphere was 'electric' and Swiss fans everywhere.Sad to say those days have long gone.( Aussie lost by the way :)

I wish they'd go back to the old format, rather than abandon it. I have no idea what countries are even in this year. And, as you say, there used always to be a "home" team, and the atmosphere was famously raucous...so different than the usually polite tennis crowds. They've definitely ruined it, IMO, likely by design, since they have the competing ATP Cup.

Even the players liked the old format,Sasha said recently he will not play DC as he preferred the old format, another thing not in its favor is the 'timing' most players just want to have vacation before they start their pre season training.

This is a good point. In the old format, if your country was still in, at the final, you'd consider sacrificing the one weekend for the chance at the Big Salad Bowl. But why would the top players, in particular, take that much time at the expenses of rest and recuperation, for who knows what reward? It's always a good opportunity for the lower ranked guys, but without the star-power or the thrill for the home crowds, what is the value in it?

Probably you will find the home crowds will be lower, top players put bums on seats.
