Rafa was one of the most successful teenagers in ATP Tour history, reaching No 2 in the world and winning 16 titles before his 20th birthday!,including his first French Open title and six Masters Events...so Jannik has a lot of catching up to do to match Rafa:)
Still it is a good rise from Jannik,as yet to win a major,or a Masters event.
Rafa, Sampras, Borg and especially Becker are the Greatest Super teenager of all time..(the ladies have way too many to name)

Though did Becker,Sampras and Borg win 16 titles before their 20th birthday?
From my memory Martina Hingis was the youngest female to win a GS title, even though I could not stand her.
I thought it was Tracey Austin was the youngest. Swiss Miss was absolutely Brilliant.. Best tennis IQ and made the BEST of a body that was less than 5-7.. I watched her take apart Seles (part 2) 6-0 6-0.. Hingis NEVER should have lost to Steffi at RG and the heat in AO definitely defeated her more than Jennifer Cap. IMO..As you can see , Swiss Miss was my Favorite <3..

I don't think we've had a young player like this since Nadal.
Unfortunately you are wrong. Nole entered the top 100 at the age of 17 and at the age of 19 he won the first tournament of the master series. At the age of 20, he reached the third place on the world ranking list and the first title at the Grand Slam.

All the more impressive of Djokovic to break so many records in a shorter amount of time over Fedal! Nole's for the most part won his titles in bunches; hence sneaking up on Fedal with 3 Majors this season to tie at 20! They thought they had more time, but unfortunately the rest of the tour has been just as uncooperative as when they reigned! While the "Big 3" have been on the shelf, the NG'rs haven't exactly taken advantage of their absence! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :lulz1::laugh::D:good:

I just looked! Matteo withdrew soon enough so Sinner moves up to 8th seed and does get a much needed bye! Earlier this year he won a tournament and the tour had him playing another match the following day in another country! That was so messed up! :anxious-face-with-sweat::angry-face::face-with-symbols-on-mouth:

Rafa defeated Roger in their first encounter at Miami (HC) in straight sets at age 17. Age 18 Rafa won his first master's series tournament (Monte Carlo).

I have to admit that I forgot about Novak and about Andy Murray, so I looked them up. Novak entered the top 100 on July 4, 2005, so he was 18 years 39 days. Andy Murray at 18 years 5 months, Sinner at 18 years 89 days. Each won a first title at 19, though Novak won 2 at that age. So pretty comparable. As Margaret rightly implied, Rafa was much more precocious: entered the top 100 at 16 years 10.5 months, and won his title at 17.

But my mistake dragged you out of the woodwork, so it was worth it. :D

Zverev has won in Vienna but the match has been very even, Tiafoe has made brilliant shots and not so much show like yesterday, good for him!

I'm curious to know why in Vienna nobody were wearing the mask and in Transilvania everybody do :thinking-face:

Sinner isn't a teenager anymore - he turned 20 in August.

The only other recent player to have similar success is Zverev. Sascha was ranked #18 on his 20th birthday and, within about half a year, rose all the way to #3. He had won two titles before his 20th, both ATP 250s, but then won four more before his 21st, including two Masters. Sinner had 4 titles on his 20th birthday, and has won two more since, and is also now #9 in the world (or will be, tomorrow).

The point being their rises are similar, with Sinner slightly ahead at their respective ages (Tsitsipas was close, but a bit behind, age-wise). And they also line up well with Novak's rise in the rankings at a similar age, although Zverev dropped off slightly and fell to #7 for awhile, while once Novak entered the top 5, he never fell below #4 for a decade.

Hopefully that isn't too convoluted. The bottom line is that Nadal was a bit ahead, Tsitsipas a bit behind, and Novak, Zverev, and Sinner rose very similarly from around age 17 to 20.

I think we acknowledged that Sinner is no longer a teenager, put only two months past, which is why we've been making the comparisons. I appreciate this graph, and you're right to put Zverev and Tsitsipas in. I had Murray in my "prose" version, because he was a similar, but all good.

I actually was, well, curious about Borg v. Rafa, but I got too lazy. Becker was in the time when I watched less tennis, but a good addition.
Honestly..I think at 17 Borg vs Becker would have been a brilliant Classic matchup on Grass...

So it's going to come down to when a top player won his titles due to the "Big 3" being tied at 20 Majors each???? Wow! :D :shushing-face::facepalm:
You are just now noticing this part of the conversation?:face-with-tears-of-joy:

He should just sit it out and join Kyrie Irving to be a voice for those who are receiving vaccine vaccination shot required mandates at their place of employment.

ABC News: Djokovic won't yet commit to Australian Open title defence.
