Jannik Sinner with another straight set win at indoor hard courts. He has now won 11 consecutive indoor hard court matches and 22 consecutive indoor hard court sets. Also, he will be in the Top 10 rankings (Number 9 to be exact) for the first time this upcoming Monday. If he wins the title in Vienna, he will be rank in the Top 8 this upcoming Monday. Forza, Sinner!

We could potentially have an Alcaraz-Sinner final match on an ATP 500 event! Who would have thought we can see that match up in 2021?! Sinner being in the Top 8 is big for him going into 2022 because he puts himself in a good spot to reach QF/SF in slams. It is similar to Alcaraz in 2022. If Alcaraz can reach a Top 32 ranking, then he will be seeded at slams. I am excited to see on what it is in store for the two young players in 2022!

Nadal predicted Sinner's rise at the start of the 2021 season in which they practiced together during the Quarantine in Australia.

Not getting ahead of myself,Jannik has been playing well indoors,he could also do well in the up coming Paris tournament indoors.

That match would be very interesting, two very young players playing well, with confidence and good head, but of course first ehe have to go over Tiafoe and Zverev which are playing well too

The only problem he will have going into Paris indoors is that he will have to play 6 matches instead of 5 matches (he will be seeded 9th in Paris Masters due to the rankings based on the week of October 25th, 2021). Either way, if he can somehow wins the title in Vienna, he will be going into the ATP Tour final with A LOT of confidence!

Has draw been confirmed? Someone might drop out in time so Sinner can get a bye; otherwise a WC, Qual. or LL will take the spot I guess!

Indoor tennis is a totally different game! If I were to "Zone," it would more likely happen indoors without wind or sun to affect my play! :face-with-hand-over-mouth:
Indoor tennis is for those who can't deal with what most of tennis is about: managing all of the variables. But if you like your tennis airless and climate controlled, then surely indoor tennis is for you. For those who can't deal with climate, I wonder that you picked tennis at all.

Next week they both to fly to the Nadal Academy in Mallorca and begin some intense training session matches with Rafa..He will cover their expenses.

Well, it’s a skill set of its own, and if the court is fast, it’s a hair raising game. Tests the players ability to abbreviate their shots effectively. Some of us remember the great Sampras-Becker match of 1996, where a lot of it wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t indoors. The neutralising of the weather presents its own difficulties, sometimes. But definitely, I’m opposed to indoor tennis at the slams. Especially Wimbledon. Most especially in 2018. During a heatwave. To close the roof and benefit only one player at the expense of the sports integrity was criminal. It’s almost the same as insisting it should rain in Paris on a hot sunny day. When you’re losing [same player]. What’s next? Can we have some snow, please? At Flushing Meadows? In September? It’s psychopathic…

I love the speed of indoor tennis! Detractors can "bite me!" Living in Chgo, sometimes to avoid rain, snow, hail, & lightning, we take it inside!

I used to love it even more in a shiny surface where your knees would creak getting down to retrieve some sly feckers slice backhand approach into my two hander. And when I say I “used to love it”, I mean I’d also curse the little bo!!ox :lulz1:

Brotha, it takes a lot in the very cold Winters of Chicago to leave a warm house with two or three layers of clothes. Warm your car, drive in the snow and ice, to the near Northside or South Side of the city . Exit your car, go to the locker room area to strip down to your tennis gear and play tennis for an hour or two and reverse the entire process.I would do the same for indoors basketball but have it because of all the dislocated joints of my fingers would delay my Spring outside tennis debut for lack of a better word. Indoor tennis requires True Grit.

I was going to post earlier that Sinner was looking scary-good, but then he got tight serving for the match at 5-2, I think?, and Tiafoe won the set 7-5 and we're now in a 3rd. Just when I thought Sinner was so sturdy.

Learning experience for the young Jannik Sinner, that’s how I view it. The silver lining for him is he gets to extra days off for Paris indoors plus he did get a 1st round bye because it looks like Matteo will not play Paris indoors at all.

Wow...no Sinner v. Alcaraz. Tiafoe with the big come from behind win. He's beaten Tsitsipas, Schwartzman and Sinner this week. Zverev beat Alcaraz earlier.

Here’s the irony part, Moxie: Sinner vs. Alcaraz can happen on the 2nd round of Paris Masters! Assuming Alcaraz wins his 1st round match first!
