Reading news that Dennis Shapovalov has withdrawn from Roland Garos, trying to get more information as to why? maybe picked up an injury in the Geneva final.
Next player in: Uchiyama.
That is a shame, for whatever reason, because he was playing some good ball lately.

Okay just read the reason that Dennis has withdrawn his shoulder has been bothering him of late, had medical tests, which looked okay....he decided to give it a rest.Yes he has been playing well of late.

While initially surprising, I guess he might think that it's better to save it for grass and HC, where he's more suited. He does look like he's ready to bring some recent results to the next level, though.

Technically did Sinner do enough to get top 16 ranking? Pretty sure he will pass Raonic.
Also if Casper Ruud wins his tourney is it enough to leap frog him to top 16 for Roland Garos, I would think others wouldn't' love to face him early..
shapovalov is out so sinner goes up a spot. so a bit closer lol.

Aussie Chris O'Connell WC for RG ranked 129, has also qualified for this week's Belgrade Open.

Another surgery for Juan Martin del Potro will undergo another operation on his right knee, but said he hopes to play the Tokyo Olympics. That's 3 surgeries already.I wish someone close to him whispers in his ear " it is time to retire now".

Quite frankly I think he should have retired a few years ago.He has to have surgery and rehab on his knee? time has run out sad to say
For me, I'll give Juan Martin as much rope as he wants to try to come back, but it does look grim. Two of the great losses in recent years to men's tennis, to injury and illness, have been JMdP and Robin Soderling. With Soderling, it's harder to say, as it was more unrealized potential, but JMdP had actually realized some of his potential. He'd won a Major. He was the 5th Beatle. Who knows what would have been, if he'd been strongly in the mix. *sigh*

Stan the Man has become the 5th Beatle unfortunately for JMDP.. Trust me..Ii don't like to be dismissive in regards to someone's career.. I don't recall who it was maybe Moxie or KS can remember. Players above 6-7 really don't have long careers yet Dr.Ivo totally rebukes that theory.

Stan's a true enigma! All that talent, but rarely rose to the ocassion except when playing Djokovic! IIRC Nole has a huge H2H record against Wawrinka, but it's been tough with 3 major losses that kept him from surpassing Fedal already! What frustrated me watching Stan was his being emotionally crippled by his compatriot, Federer! Roger could give Stan 2 MP's in his pocket and he'd find a way to give it back! I still SMH over that YEC SF several years ago where Roger was hobbled, but for some reason Stan was in a banter with Mirka in the front row! He had the match; Roger about to give it to him, but he couldn't finish! Needless to say Roger didn't even bother attempting the match against Djokovic in the final! All that talent and he has that AO over Rafa, his needed 3 wins over Nole in route to his 3 major titles, and maybe a clay Masters over Roger! It's just been a dismal record against the elites for some reason; most of it being in his own head! I give more credit to Del Po because he could make Fedalovic look like punks with that FH at times! His SF demo. of Nadal at the '09 USO shows what I mean dropping just 5 or 6 games! The match was so quick I never saw it! :face-with-tears-of-joy: :astonished-face:

Nole had his Stan, and Roger had his Berdych. The overall h2h was imperious, but the losses came at critical moments. You can complain about it, and the Fed fans can, but it is what it is. Stan never tanked to Roger. He just lost to him. And del Potro might have been kryptonite to Nadal or all of them, but that we will never know. Davydenko retired with a positive h2h v. Nadal, but did nothing v. Roger. Match-ups are a bitch. I can't think of one obvious spoiler to Nadal in the way that Wawrinka and Berdych have been to Novak and Roger, respectively.

Moxie, this isn't directed at you but your post has triggered this:

OMG, Robin Soderling is the mythical unicorn of mens ATP tennis, in how he's been raised up as THE ONE who was going to challenge for tennis domination. Who is drinking all this kool aid.? The highly overrated Robin has been praised to the rafters for the year and a half he became a top 5 player.

Let's look at the facts, yes, he upset both Rafa and Roger to reach consecutive FO finals in 2009/10 but the reality was once he got to the finals there was never a whiff that he was actually going to win it, losing rather perfunctorily to them in straight set fashion. Reached the Qtrfinals in several Majors, but lost to both Rafa and Roger at Wimbledon, USO, etc. In fact that win against Roger was the only win versus 16 losses. Yes, he beat Rafa one year in the best of all possible venues for him, the indoor HC 2009 London ATP YE champs in straight sets, but other than that , subsequently he lost to Rafa at Wimbledon and the aforementioned FO finals and then another FO QTF.. Did I mention he was blitzed in both FO finals? A power hitter in the James Blake, Thomas Berdych mold who when on could be very formidable, but not consistently. Biggest win? 1 Masters tourney in Paris Indoors. THAT IS IT.

So let's lay to rest the great heralded golden platinum champion of tennis that was Robin Soderling.

End of rant.

I feel much better.

It's really gonna be interesting when Berdych, Ferrer, JoWillieTs, and Nishikori are eligible for the Hall of Fame..Unlike the recent NBA which ridiculously is accepting the Hall of the pretty good, the tennis Hall of Fame main prerequisites are at least a grand slam title..If Cilic makes it in, then all the aforementioned players deserves to be members IMO.

TeamDelpo rejects about he needs another surgery, they say it’s a old news and he is doing well . Any way I don’t think he has a good future as player same like Murray and Federer we’ll see his next performances but I’m surprised that he still wants to play unless his sponsors....who knows what kind of deals he has

That was put on Twitter earlier today.....weird they would put that when it is old news? Matt Cronin put that up on Twitter btw 12 hrs ago.I will type what he said,

Matt Cronin@Tennis Reporters..12hr.

Another surgery for Juan Martin del Potro."
"Will undergo another operation on his right knee, but said he still hopes to play the Tokyo Olympics. That's 3 surgeries already.A great player, but it is hard to run now.Soon,he will retire. But he is nice guy, talking to him".

I did a bit of research into this matter and went back some pages on the ATP News and I posted on March 22nd this year that Del Potro was to have another knee surgery in Chicago.Still hopes to play at the Toykyo Olympics.
I have no idea why Matt Cronin from Tennis Reporters posted on Twitter that news regarding Del Potro.Matt Cronin has been reporting on tennis and attending tennis tournaments for many years,he should check his information before posting.

Novak playing lucky loser Mats Moraing (#283) in Belgrade, won the first set 6-2, and has gotten so grumpy that he was assessed a point penalty for racquet abuse. I honestly think he's doubled-down on the racquet smashing since getting DQ'd out of USO.

This is a classic from Kenny Mayne of ESPN Sports Center..He is retiring. His dry sense of humor will be missed. Fedal fans may like this .
