I expected more from Medvedev, but he cracked at the worst possible times with a crazy drop-shot or 2 & sprayed forehands under no pressure!

So you’re OK with someone bashing Nadal but you’re not OK with someone defending him. You know what, whatever... Actually I don’t even feel like posting that much again because every freaking forum moderators allow bashing Nadal but then when someone defends him they get into trouble. Well done and good night.

Terrific match by Thiem. Medvedev should be disappointed, but he missed his chance against Nadal last year, and as I said at the time, he will likely be haunted by that awful loss for a long time to come.

I have to admit that I had not watched Thiem play this tournament, but had I seen him play I’m sure my expectations would have been different for this match. What is most impressive is how he seized the moment knowing that he is 4 years older than Medvedev and that it’s more important for him to get that first Slam now than it is for Medvedev.

Fabulous performance.
