Never miss a moment to pretend that Medvedev had even better than a punter's chance in that match last year.Props to Thiem for rising to the occasion tonight. He is seizing the moment. I have to admit I have never found his game particularly interesting and I didn’t watch any of his matches at the 2020 US Open until tonight, but to his credit he is locked in on taking advantage of the opportunity with Djokovic now out.
And Medvedev is showing the same flakiness and inconsistency that cost him the two matches against Nadal at the end of 2019. Standing that far behind the baseline has major pitfalls. But his shots while moving laterally are very impressive.
