Can I make an observation regarding 'groin injuries' this is from my medical background, the best solution is to rest and get treatment daily, rather than go out and practice.
However, without practice there is no match-fitness.

And I have always said that I root for Roger when he's playing Novak, unless it's the final of a Major. I won't pretend that I don't like to see someone beat Djokovic, but I surely don't want him to move on via not having a good fight due to impairment.

I always root for Novak over Methuselah.

If you see this ad you can see that Federer has a Media work room and not practice which means.......

I see. You root for Federer against Djokovic before a major final, but once they play in a major final you switch to Djokovic. It makes sense.
Does this shock you? What did you want me to say? I generally like Roger OK (it's the fans that can get me, and their theories; or when he acts like an asshole,) and I really don't like Novak, basically because I think he's a hypocrite. General purposes, I go Roger. If it's down to the Slam count, I'll hold my nose and go with Djokovic. Honest enough for you?

Then at the end Roger is going to play or not?

Apparently this is his first practice session since his last match, both players have media commitments before their match tonight. If Roger is going to retire he will announce it then.Their match is a sellout.Up to the organizers to arrange some type of exhibition match I would imagine, anyway lets see what happens first.

It is hot today. But I don't know whether heat rule will be in effect for night match.

I thought some idiots here said Roger deliberately lost some previous matches so he could avoid Djoker. Now in this shape and form being the biggest underdog ever, Fed has not checked out and decided to show up.

Let's analyse what Fed still got, a serve that's significantly slower, nowhere near his previous form, as his biggest weapon.
The forehand, which consistently makes unforced errors, as his second most potent weapon.
Movement, huge difference to even last year, he truly looks old now...…..the way he moves, and with some injury on top of that.
Backhand, even that's below par and it's not the match decider anyway.

The biggest thing going for him in this tournament, is unbelievable luck. He had no control against Millman or Sandgren, yet things just fell into place for him. And some posters here still give Fed a set? must be joking.

Three breaks in the first 4 games. 2 for Fed 1 for Novak. And Djokovic got to 30-all on Fed's service game here again. But Fed gets the hold for 4-1. Finished it with an ace.

So Fed got to 40-love on Novak's serve this time but this time Novak saves all the break points and gets his first hold. Fed saved several break points in the first game and that's the difference right now. But Fed just held in true FedExpress fashion to love. 5-2 but only 1 break.

The so called experts thought it would benefit Roger with the speed of the court more to his liking! The slower, cold nights supposedly would have been to his detriment! I don't think it'll matter! This is going to be a war of attrition regardless! Fed's got to keep this up for 3 hours! :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Another deuce game on Djokovic's serve. But he gets the hold. No break point. Then a double fault from Fed. A long rally that Djokovic won. Fed missed another forehand when Djokovic pulled him wide. Second let first serve of the game. Missed the first serve. Loses the point with another forehand into the net. Djokovic breaks to love. Back on serve. Oy.

So Djokovic nearly breaks in the first game. Gets broken in the next game. Breaks back immediately. But Fed breaks right back. Now Fed nearly breaks and gets broken in the next game to love. Looked like Djokovic was gonna let Fed get away with an easy set that didn't tax him too much. But now Fed having to work. Which is definitely what Djokovic wants. Surely even if Fed does look better than expected (though he seems to be struggling to move out to his forehand), Djokovic wants to get him in long rallies and tire him out. Surely Fed can't sustain a five setter tonight after his last few matches. Or at least not a high level of play at 5 sets.

It's back on serve! Fed cooled off even with the high temps outside! Nole's striking the ball with abandon! Fed's secret practice paying off!
