I think I've only seen him once. He's had a great run on the Challenger circuit though. Mostly last year. But a little this year as well. He's not a small person. So he has that going for him.
I heard of this guy before, but only as a name on livescores. First time watching him too. He routinely took this set.WTF? I haven’t been watching, but how did Roger go down 2-5 to this guy I’ve never even seen play before?
Then you do not read consistently my new career high rankings. Harris showed up on my updates several times in the bottom of the top 100.I saw his name in a bracket a few weeks back and I had to look him up. Never heard the name until then.
100% seconded!
if they end up doing it, it's entirely because they want to dumb down the sport. Yes some can say that on court coaching is rampant, but I'm sorry... why do some of the women who clearly benefit from coaching on the tour fail so miserably perform in slams? It's fairly clear that their problem solving skills are deficient. It would be a horror show in my opinion if this was done for men. And I don't think it's a good thing that the WTA unilaterally went ahead and did this for the women. It's just an awful look to me, for the world's premier female sporting organisation
But that is precisely why I like the fact that there is no coaching in tennis: because, specially when you factor in the peculiarities of the game, it is so unique. It is an extremely hard task to manage yourself alone in court, and that is why I like the non-coaching rule. I get that this probably will cease to exist one day, but I will lament it. I really don't care if other sports have coaching -- actually I get sick of the constant cross-sport analogies. In general, they just divert the point and do not help one bit. But I concede it is a matter of taste. It is not "absurd" to have on court coaching. It is a choice -- that I would never make. It is simply way, way, waaaaaaay harder without a coach.
Even at Halle he struggled with his serve. He could hardly hold serve against Batista and Tsonga.Roger winning 53% of first serve points. Is he serving underhand?
Big tall young man, who lacks consistency as well as experience. It should not be a problem for Roger once he gets his mojo going.I saw his name in a bracket a few weeks back and I had to look him up. Never heard the name until then.
That's a different issue and I don't have much to disagree with. I think it's perfectly fine if on court coaching remains illegal but acting like allowing sets some insane/laughable precedent that would affect matches significantly is ludicrous.
Commie said he hasn't ever won a match on grass at any level. I don't think he'll give Roger much trouble going forward here.Big tall young man, who lacks consistency as well as experience. It should not be a problem for Roger once he gets his mojo going.
