100% seconded! But that is precisely why I like the fact that there is no coaching in tennis: because, specially when you factor in the peculiarities of the game, it is so unique. It is an extremely hard task to manage yourself alone in court, and that is why I like the non-coaching rule. I get that this probably will cease to exist one day, but I will lament it. I really don't care if other sports have coaching -- actually I get sick of the constant cross-sport analogies. In general, they just divert the point and do not help one bit. But I concede it is a matter of taste. It is not "absurd" to have on court coaching. It is a choice -- that I would never make. It is simply way, way, waaaaaaay harder without a coach.
if they end up doing it, it's entirely because they want to dumb down the sport. Yes some can say that on court coaching is rampant, but I'm sorry... why do some of the women who clearly benefit from coaching on the tour fail so miserably perform in slams? It's fairly clear that their problem solving skills are deficient. It would be a horror show in my opinion if this was done for men. And I don't think it's a good thing that the WTA unilaterally went ahead and did this for the women. It's just an awful look to me, for the world's premier female sporting organisation
